Gives a member or a role access to a ticket: the one you are in, or any other ticket you pick in the ticket option.
The bot first applies the server's Command Access rules for /ticket add and checks that Tickets is enabled ("❌ Tickets is not enabled for this server."). Without the ticket option the command only works inside a ticket channel or thread ("No ticket found in this channel."); a ticket option that points at another kind of channel answers "That channel is not a ticket." Only staff of that ticket may add people: Manage Server, the ticket's staff team or a role given access when the ticket opened. Others see "Only staff can add users." When the panel keeps the ticket actions to the claimer ("Taking a ticket" on 2 Answering), everyone except the claimer, the ticket's owner and server managers sees "Only @<claimer>, who claimed this ticket, or a server manager can do that."
Two targets are refused: @everyone ("Tickets stay private, so @everyone can't be added or removed.") and any role on a thread ticket ("This ticket is a thread, and threads only take members. Add people one at a time instead."). The bot needs Manage Permissions in a ticket channel, or Manage Threads in a thread ticket; without it you get "⚠️ I'm missing the <permission> permission in #<ticket>."
In a text channel the member or role gets permission to view the channel and send messages there, on top of anything they already had. In a thread the member is added to the thread. On success the bot posts "➕ @target has been added to this ticket." in the ticket, which pings an added member but never a role, and the addition is recorded in the ticket's "Activity log". Run from another channel, you also get a private "✅ Done in #<ticket>."
Good to know
- /ticket remove reverses it.
- In a ticket by DM whose server chose "Goes to the member" (1 Opening, "Tickets by DM"), what an added member types in the ticket is sent to the member who opened it by DM, like any other message typed there.
- Adding the member who opened a ticket by DM to its channel is rarely what you want. They can then read the channel, the card for your team and messages that were not sent to them included. /ticket remove takes them out again. What they type there is not sent to their own DMs. With "Goes to the member" the bot tells them so once: "You opened this ticket, so your messages here are not sent to your own DMs. Messages from the rest of the team are." In a text channel a close takes that access away.
- Adding someone does not make them staff. They cannot claim or close the ticket unless they already count as staff through Manage Server, the ticket's team or an access role.
- If Discord refuses the change, you get a private "⚠️ Missing permission to modify channel." and nothing is recorded.
