How we checked How we checked these facts: everything this page says about Wick comes from Wick's own public pages, not hands-on testing. We compare stable structural facts only and leave anything we could not verify blank. Sources: wickbot.com · Wick documentation. Last verified 2026-09-29.
Wick describes itself as a moderation and security bot built to protect a server from every threat it can face, and by its own account it runs on some of the largest servers on Discord. Its docs say it was the first bot to ship the anti-nuke idea. That anti-nuke quarantines staff accounts that start tearing a server down, a quarantine hold punishes anyone who tries to free them, and on Premium a panic mode locks the server and loads a backup taken every three hours. Around it sit a heat-based automod, a join gate for suspicious accounts and unwanted bots, join raid detection, verification by captcha, button or web page, lockdowns, cases, reports, web appeals for bans and timeouts, Discord event and message logs and a dashboard panel for Discord's own AutoMod. Commands come as slash commands, w! prefix commands and right-click actions, and a rescue key gets the owner back in if their account is lost. Its docs are candid about the cost: Wick is not an out-of-the-box bot, and setting it up fully takes time.
YourBot is one bot whose features are services. Ten are built in and run free on every server, and two of them cover Wick's ground: the verification gate in Welcome and Sentinel, the moderation service. Sentinel's anti-nuke is on from the first time a server turns Sentinel on. It watches twelve kinds of damage, quarantines the account doing it, puts dangerous permissions, the server name and the vanity link back and can undo a mass ban, and free hourly backups bring back what was deleted. Raid mode arms itself on join speed and on look-alike accounts, while a rule engine with a heat score, numbered cases with evidence, appeals and seven server logs do the everyday work. Premium, billed per server, adds a bot under your own name, the open marketplace and the Plugin Builder.
The short version
- Pick Wick if you want prefix commands or one bot that does security and nothing else.
- Pick YourBot if you want anti-nuke, full server backups, raid detection, panic mode and verification free rather than partly on Premium, with damage put back as well as punished and appeals for any punishment. It runs tickets, analytics, events and the rest in the same bot.
- Two security bots in one server can mistake each other for an attack, so if you run both for a while, follow the steps under Switching first.
How the two are built
Wick is a first-party bot. Its dashboard wizard creates the Quarantine role on every channel and a pair of log channels, then walks through whitelists, verification and the rescue key, and its guide says whitelisting is what keeps false positives away. Custom permission levels, which it calls permits, and an overview that lists what to fix round it out. Its docs describe no way for outside developers to add to it.
YourBot's marketplace is open: anyone builds a plugin with the SDK and publishes it, and every marketplace plugin runs sandboxed with no network access and is reviewed before it ships. This page compares Wick against Sentinel and Welcome, with the other eight services and the marketplace as the reason to prefer the bundle. Sentinel's own wizard offers Relaxed, Standard and Strict, creates private log channels and a Quarantined role, installs rule templates in log-only mode and turns on anti-nuke with quarantine, restore and the hold, escalating timeouts and the message log. AI setup builds the rules from a description of your server instead.
Anti-nuke
Wick's anti-nuke watches channels and roles being created or deleted, bans, kicks and webhooks against a minute limit and an hour limit you tune yourself, and quarantines any admin who hits one. Its setup guide says it is on by default, as is the quarantine hold, which quarantines anyone who gives a quarantined member roles back. Further settings watch the public roles, dangerous channel permissions for @everyone, the vanity URL and dangerous roles handed to members. Strict mode for dangerous permissions on any role and member prune detection are Premium. Trusted admins and extra owners are immune to all of it.
Sentinel's anti-nuke has twelve watches: channels and roles created or deleted, bans, kicks, webhooks created, changed or deleted, a bot added, a role given dangerous permissions, a member given a dangerous role and a change to the server name, vanity link or owner. Each has a fast limit, such as three channel deletions in ten seconds, plus an optional slow tier over a window of up to a day. It is on from the first time a server turns Sentinel on, and a server that had Sentinel before gets a one-click Turn on recommended protection button rather than a silent change. Mass damage gets the response, quarantine unless you pick another: the account loses every role Sentinel can take and gets the Quarantined role, and its roles come back when it is released. A bot doing the damage is kicked instead, because its own integration role cannot be taken. You can pick strip roles, kick, ban or an alert instead. A single risky change, such as adding a bot, handing out a dangerous role or renaming the server, is undone and reported while the admin keeps their roles, unless you switch single changes to the response as well. The recommended protection also turns on the bot-add rule: only the owner, extra owners, exempt admins and the accounts you list can add bots, and a bot anyone else adds is kicked. Moderator roles are not exempt, because a hijacked moderator is the case this exists for; the owner, extra owners and the accounts and roles you exempt are. Whatever the response, a role that gains a dangerous permission gets its old permissions back, a member handed a dangerous role loses it and a renamed server or changed vanity link is put back. With a punishing response the accounts the attacker banned are unbanned, up to 200 per incident, and the punished account is held: anyone who hands its roles back or lifts its quarantine gets the same response.
Panic mode and recovery
Wick's panic mode, on Premium, locks the server down the moment it sees a nuke, pings the roles you choose, locks moderation commands and loads the latest backup just before it unlocks. Its docs say only the owner and Wick keep full authority while it runs. Backups, also Premium, are taken every three hours and hold everything except messages and role assignments. You can take, load and delete them by command or on the dashboard. Without backups, its docs say, Wick restores from memory and from Discord, a process they call finicky. A separate heat panic mode, also Premium, times out every flagged raider who posts while it runs.
Sentinel's panic mode is free. A punishing anti-nuke response can lock the whole server down, and until it lifts only the owner, extra owners and your exempt accounts can run punitive and lock commands or change cases, locks and settings on the dashboard. A compromised moderator cannot lift it.
Sentinel's backups are free too. Every hour it backs up everything except messages: server settings and images, roles, every channel and category with its permissions, emojis and stickers. Every six hours it adds the ban list and, on servers of up to 25,000 members, who holds which role. It keeps a backup only when something changed, holds the newest 24 and one a day for a week, and you can keep up to 10 of your own, download them and restore one with a click, choosing what comes back. With restore on, as it is by default, anti-nuke answers a mass deletion by restoring from the newest backup taken before the attack and giving roles back to their members, apart from roles with dangerous permissions, which it lists for you to hand back. Threads, webhooks and messages are not backed up.
Wick gives the owner a key or QR code to reclaim control of Wick if their account is lost, plus extra owners who can do everything the owner can except add more. Sentinel covers both. Up to 10 extra owners can change every Sentinel setting, and anti-nuke never acts on them. The Discord server owner makes 10 one-time recovery codes: using one from another Discord account in the server makes that account an owner on YourBot and freezes every other owner account until it is unfrozen, and a frozen account loses its anti-nuke exemption.
Raids and joins
Wick splits this in two. The join gate acts on accounts with no avatar, accounts younger than an age you set, names that carry an invite link, accounts it finds suspicious and names that match a username filter of strict and wildcard words. It also catches bots Discord has not verified and bots added by anyone other than the owner, extra owners, trusted admins or members above Wick. Each filter can time out, kick, ban or just log. Join raid, all of it Premium, counts joins over a period, ten in ten minutes by default, and runs each new join through flags for look-alike names, young accounts and missing avatars plus an ID flag aimed at automated raids. It tracks which invites were used, pings the roles you choose, times out, kicks or bans what it flags and links a full list of the accounts it caught.
Sentinel does both, free. Rules fire on a join as well as on a message, so a missing avatar, account age, a link in a profile name, a name filter with wildcard and regex modes and a join risk score all act on arrival. A bot without Discord's verified badge can be kicked on join, and with the allowlist on, a bot added by anyone but the owner, a listed account or an exempt admin is kicked on sight. Raid mode switches itself to Hard at ten joins a minute by default. Look-alike detection clusters accounts that share near-identical names, were created close together, have no avatar or have IDs minted minutes apart; five of them raise raid mode, and the report names the invite they came through, which Sentinel revokes when one invite brought them. Hard mode quarantines, kicks or bans every new join and stands down after 30 minutes unless you say otherwise.
Verification
Wick's verification offers a captcha, a simpler captcha, a press-to-enter button, a web page or the whole process inside the verification channel, which its changelog made the default. It can target everyone or only suspicious accounts, gives your main roles on success and kicks or bans members who fail, with two minutes to finish by default. Captchas in your own size and colours are Premium, as is a captcha that regenerates on a timer.
YourBot's gate lives in Welcome and is free. Members verify with a button, a web page where they sign in with Discord or a captcha with three tries per image, a New image button and an optional refresh every 30 to 600 seconds. You can gate everyone or only accounts younger than a number of days or without an avatar, and give an Unverified role that hides channels until they pass. A deadline of up to seven days comes with one DM reminder, and at the deadline the member is kicked, banned, held with a role you pick or left alone.
Automod
Wick's automod is a heat system, on by default according to its setup guide. Every message adds heat, and repeats, emojis, characters, new lines, mentions, attachments, posting in quiet channels, blacklisted words and hidden factors add more, while advertising, NSFW and malicious links go straight to the top. Heat cools over time, and a member who reaches the maximum is timed out, for longer once they hit a strike cap. The multiplier that lengthens each repeat timeout is Premium, as is control over the heat ceiling and how fast it cools. A free auto lockdown closes every channel after a burst of mentions.
Sentinel's automod is a rule engine. A rule pairs any of 22 conditions, from word and regex filters with an anti-evasion normaliser, spam rate, mention floods, caps and duplicates to known phishing links, freshly registered domains and staff impersonation, with any of 13 actions, and can run in log-only mode first. One condition is a heat score: every message adds points, mentions, links, files, emojis, repeats, extra lines and capitals add more, and the score halves every 10 seconds. The rule fires at 100 by default, and every weight, the threshold and the cooling are yours to set, free. Sixteen templates install the common setups, a heat spam filter among them, and a tester shows whether a sample message would fire. With escalation on, each timeout in the last 30 days doubles the next by default. Both bots also manage Discord's own AutoMod rules from their dashboards.
Commands, cases and appeals
Wick's moderation commands come as slash commands, w! prefix commands that take several members at once and right-click actions that ban, kick, time out, quarantine or clean up a name. Bans can be temporary, soft or for users who are not in the server, and purges filter by user, role or webhook. Settings add confirmations, anonymous moderation, a default timeout and warn points that trigger up to five punishments. Banned or timed-out members appeal on Wick's appeals website, where staff approve, deny or blacklist them; custom appeal questions are Premium.
Sentinel's commands are slash commands: warn, timeout, kick, ban with an optional duration or by user ID, softban, purge with filters, lockdown, quarantine, temporary roles, notes, a watchlist and voice moderation, with the same confirmations, anonymous moderation and default timeout as settings. /mass bans up to 200 members at once and kicks or times out up to 100, picked by mention, by ID or by how recently they joined, up to a day back, after a preview you confirm. A right-click on a member offers Timeout, Quarantine, Ban and View cases. There are no prefix commands. Every action opens a numbered case. An automatic one carries the matched rule, the measured value and the messages around the trigger, and overturning a timeout, ban or quarantine reverses it. Members can appeal a warning, timeout, kick, softban, ban or quarantine with /appeal or on a web page after signing in with Discord. Reports come from /report, a right-click on a message or a report emoji, into an inbox sorted by risk.
Logging
Wick routes its own logs, from automod to panic mode and appeals, to channels you choose. Its Discord logging covers server, channel, member and role changes through to invites, webhooks, emojis, stickers, scheduled events and threads, each to its own channel, plus a message log of pins, unpins, edits, deletions and purges.
Sentinel posts moderation to a mod log and server changes to seven categories: members, channels, roles, server settings, voice, content and moderation. The members log covers joins, leaves, nicknames, roles, timeouts and name and avatar changes, and each entry shows what changed and who did it. The message log keeps the before and after of edits and deletions, names who deleted a message, keeps images and exports to CSV.
Plans
Wick's docs list what Premium adds: join raid, both panic modes, backups, the roles and server-wide lockdowns, strict mode, prune detection, custom and regenerating captchas, the heat settings, the timeout multiplier and custom appeal questions. It is bought per server, with plans that cover several, and its docs describe no bot under your own name.
YourBot's shared bot runs all ten core services free with no feature paywall. Premium, billed per server, adds a custom bot under your own application, name and avatar, the marketplace, the Plugin Builder, 50 lifetime Start Your Server designs and premium support.
Switching
Plan the overlap, because two security bots can read each other's bulk actions as an attack. Wick's FAQ says it quarantines a bot that gives roles to a quarantined member and goes after bots that create or delete channels in bulk, and its answer is a whitelist. So whitelist YourBot in Wick, add Wick to Sentinel's anti-nuke exempt list and keep one verification gate, not two. Add the second bot from the server owner's account, because both bots can kick a bot that someone else adds. Then run Sentinel's setup wizard, leave the rules in log-only mode and read the cases they would have opened. When the alerts and raid reports match what you expect, move verification to Welcome and retire Wick's filters one at a time. Pricing has the current terms and the other comparisons are written the same way.
YourBot is a Wick alternative: anti-nuke on from day one, free full backups, raid detection, verification and appeals beside eight other free services.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Wick?
YourBot's built-in Sentinel service, with the verification gate in Welcome: anti-nuke that reverts the damage, raid detection that revokes the invite, a panic lockdown, verification by button, captcha or web page, full server backups, cases and appeals, all free on every server. Wick remains the pick if you want prefix commands or a bot that does security and nothing else.
Is Sentinel's anti-nuke on by default like Wick's?
Yes, from the first time a server turns Sentinel on: anti-nuke with quarantine, restore and the hold. A server that had Sentinel before gets a one-click button instead, so nothing changes without its owner. Mass damage gets quarantine, while a single risky change by an admin, such as adding a bot or handing out a dangerous role, is undone and reported and the admin keeps their roles. Wick's setup guide says its anti-nuke is on by default and quarantines an admin who hits a limit.
Does YourBot have a panic mode?
Yes, free. A punishing anti-nuke response can lock the whole server down, and until it lifts only the owner, extra owners and your exempt accounts can moderate or change settings. Wick's panic mode is Premium and also loads a backup before it unlocks.
Does YourBot back up my server?
Yes, free. Every hour Sentinel backs up server settings, roles, channels and their permissions, emojis and stickers, and every six hours bans and who holds which role. You can take backups by hand, download them and restore one with a click, and anti-nuke restores from the last backup before an attack. Messages, threads and webhooks are not backed up. Wick's Premium backups are taken every three hours and hold everything but messages and role assignments.
Does YourBot stop join raids?
Yes, free. Raid mode arms itself at ten joins a minute. Look-alike accounts are clustered, and the invite that brought them is named and revoked. Join rules act on missing avatars, account age and names, and a bot-add allowlist keeps out bots nobody approved. Wick's join gate covers similar ground, and its join raid detection is Premium.
How does verification compare?
Both gate new members. YourBot's Welcome service offers a button, a captcha or a web page, for everyone or only new and avatar-less accounts, with an Unverified role and a deadline of up to seven days that ends in a kick, a ban, a hold role or nothing. Wick adds a simpler captcha and an in-channel mode, and on Premium lets you restyle and regenerate its captcha.
Does YourBot have a rescue key or extra owners?
Yes, both. The Discord server owner makes one-time recovery codes. Using one from another Discord account in the server makes that account an owner on YourBot and freezes the other owner accounts until they are unfrozen. Up to 10 extra owners can change every Sentinel setting, and anti-nuke never acts on them. Wick offers a rescue key or QR code and extra owners.
Does YourBot have prefix commands?
No. Sentinel's commands are slash commands. /mass acts on up to 200 members at once, and a right-click on a member offers Timeout, Quarantine, Ban and View cases, with Report Message on messages. Wick has prefix commands as well, and they can act on several members at once.
Is YourBot free?
Yes. The shared bot runs all ten core services on every server free, with no feature paywalls. Premium, billed per server, adds your own bot identity, marketplace plugins, the Plugin Builder, 50 lifetime Start Your Server designs and premium support.
Can I run Wick and YourBot at the same time?
Yes, with care. Two security bots can read each other's bulk actions as an attack, so whitelist YourBot in Wick, add Wick to Sentinel's anti-nuke exempt list and keep one verification gate. Add the second bot from the server owner's account, because both can kick a bot that someone else adds. Then compare what each one catches and retire the other once nothing is missing.
