How we checked How we checked these facts: everything this page says about MEE6 comes from MEE6's own public pages, not hands-on testing. We compare stable structural facts only and leave anything we could not verify blank. Sources: mee6.xyz · wiki.mee6.xyz · help.mee6.xyz. Last verified 2026-10-12.
MEE6 calls itself the best all-in-one bot for Discord, and by its own count it is one of the most widely used bots on the platform. Its leveling system is one of its headline features, its social alerts cover a long list of networks, and around them sit welcome messages, a ticket plugin, an economy, birthdays, polls, temporary channels, no-code automations, AI characters and a Bot Personalizer that runs those features under a bot of your own. MEE6 builds these itself and calls most of them plugins, and its newer Bot Maker, in beta on Premium, has AI build games, commands and automations as modules. One structural fact shapes everything else on this page. MEE6's own plan comparison marks the search command, achievements and the starboard as free and gives free servers fewer timers and ticket panels without embeds or transcripts. Moderation, welcome messages, levels, reaction roles, custom commands, social alerts, giveaways, polls, embeds, temporary channels, stats counters and the Bot Personalizer are on its per-server Premium plan, and its AI products and MEE6 Pro are sold separately.
YourBot is one bot built from modular features too, with two differences. Ten of them are built in and run free on every server: Sentinel moderation, Tickets, Analytics, Beacon Events, Group Finder, Voice Channels, Welcome, Announcements, Giveaways and Social Feeds. And the rest of the catalog is an open marketplace where independent developers publish plugins, next to a Plugin Builder that writes one from a description. Premium, billed per server, adds your own bot identity, the marketplace and the builder.
The short version
- Pick MEE6 if XP levels are the point or you want alerts from X, Instagram or TikTok. It is also the pick for a server that runs on custom commands, an economy and birthdays. YourBot has none of those.
- Pick YourBot if you want moderation, analytics, events, LFG and welcome flows without a subscription, plus a plugin marketplace when you outgrow them.
- Both bots can share a server, so the safe move is to run them side by side and retire whichever one stops earning its place.
How the two are built
MEE6's plugins are built by MEE6. Its site and docs describe no developer program or public API and no way for an outside developer to publish a plugin or earn from one. Its Bot Maker, in beta on Premium, lets a server owner describe a module and have AI build it for that server, next to a library of modules made by MEE6, and its Monetize plugin lets a server owner sell memberships to members.
YourBot's marketplace is open. Anyone builds a plugin with the SDK, publishes it, sets a price and keeps 70% of each sale, rising to 85% as their volume grows, paid to their own Stripe account. Public submissions go through a staff review queue and every version is scanned: nine unsafe code patterns block an upload outright and an obfuscation-aware analyser scores the rest. At runtime a marketplace plugin lives in a container with no network access, a read-only filesystem and hard memory and CPU limits, and you approve what it can touch when you install it. Marketplace plugins run on a custom bot, which comes with Premium.
Moderation
MEE6's Moderator plugin is a Premium feature. Its automod is a set of rulesets you switch on: bad words, repeated text, server invites, external links, excessive caps, excessive emojis, spoilers and mentions, zalgo text and a general anti-spam check on message frequency, plus channels restricted to images, videos or bot commands. A ruleset's action is delete, warn or both, scoped by role and channel lists, and warnings feed automated actions that escalate on a count within a time window, a temporary mute, a temporary ban or a permanent ban, evaluated top down with the first match winning. Manual commands cover ban, temporary ban, kick, mute, temporary mute, warn, infractions and bulk clear. Immunity roles bypass both automod and manual actions, and an audit-logging channel receives message edits and deletes, joins, roles, voice and server changes through a webhook, batched every few minutes. A captcha lives inside Welcome and, per the wiki, is available only to small or selected servers. Raid protection, AI moderation and ban appeals are not in its documentation.
Sentinel, YourBot's built-in moderation service, is free and is a rules engine rather than a switchboard. A rule pairs conditions from 22 types, including phrase and regex matching that strips invisible characters, spam rate, mention floods, freshly registered domains, known phishing links, account age, missing avatar, staff look-alike names and a per-member risk score, with any of 13 actions, from delete and warn through timeout, kick, ban, quarantine and voice mute or disconnect, on three triggers: a message, a join or a nickname change. Every rule can run in Testing, where it only notes in the mod log what it would do, and the editor's Try it box says whether a sample message would fire before you save. Escalation holds an action until a member carries the warnings you set, and warnings expire on a schedule. Around the rules sit raid mode that arms itself on join velocity, look-alike join clustering that revokes the invite it came through, anti-nuke with twelve watches that can undo mass bans and revert dangerous permission changes, and lockdowns of a channel, the server, a role, new joins or invites. Every warning, timeout, kick, ban and quarantine opens a numbered case, a rule that acts on a message keeps the messages around it as evidence, members report by right-clicking a message, and anyone you ban can appeal from a public web page, because a banned member cannot run a slash command. Deleted and edited messages are logged with their before and after text from Sentinel's own cache, and server changes post to seven log categories with the actor from the audit log.
Leveling, or activity you can actually read
This is MEE6's home ground, so be precise. Members earn XP for text messages, once a minute, and its help centre says XP can only be earned by chatting in text channels; a Voice XP Tracker module in its Bot Maker library adds XP for voice time on Premium. Role rewards stack or replace, level-up messages go to the channel, a DM or a custom channel, a rank card can be customised, there are no-XP roles and channels, and the leaderboard is a web page you can make public, with a vanity URL and a join button on Premium. Levels itself is a Premium plugin, and MEE6 Pro is a separate per-user subscription for rank-card customisation and faster XP.
YourBot has no XP bar and no level-up message. Analytics ranks members on what they actually did, across 12 leaderboard metrics that include voice hours, reactions, threads and days active, over windows from a week to a year, and Role Rewards hands out a Discord role once someone crosses a threshold on any of 15 metrics, with an automatic revoke if they drop back below it. The same service gives you 11 dashboard pages: cohort retention, an hour-by-weekday heatmap, voice session percentiles, dead-channel detection, counter channels, opt-in presence tracking and a public stats page, and it never stores what anyone said. If a public XP ladder is what keeps your members chatting, MEE6 does that better. If you want to know whether the server is healthy, YourBot does.
Welcome, roles and verification
MEE6's Welcome & Goodbye plugin, on Premium, sends a text, embed or welcome card to a channel or by DM, assigns a role on join and posts a goodbye message; editing the card's font, colours and background is a Premium option, a separate Welcome Channel plugin builds a themed read-only channel from preset embeds, and AI characters can greet newcomers on a further plan. Its reaction roles, also Premium, come as emoji reactions, buttons or dropdowns with grant and reverse modes and Verify and Notifications templates.
YourBot's Welcome service is free. It sends welcome and goodbye messages with placeholders, up to 25 rotating greetings with their own images, draws a welcome card you design from 12 templates, on a background you supply if you like and animated when that background is, DMs the newcomer, grants roles on join with an optional delay or only after verification and posts member-count milestones. Verification works three ways on any size of server: a Verify button, a captcha or a web page, with an Unverified role and a deadline. Role menus post as buttons, a dropdown or emoji reactions, single or multi choice.
Custom commands, embeds and automations
MEE6 wins this section. Custom commands respond in a channel or by DM and give or remove roles, with arguments, cooldowns and permissions; an embed builder makes rich messages; Automations, which the wiki marks as beta, chain a trigger, a condition and an action without code. All three are Premium. YourBot has no custom command builder and no general automation editor. Its rules live inside its services: Sentinel has moderation rules and Analytics has Role Rewards and alerts. Tickets has rules too, which act on a ticket after a wait you set. What it has instead is scheduled announcements that post once, daily, weekly or monthly in your server's timezone, plus two ways to get a feature nobody shipped: install it from the marketplace or describe it to the Plugin Builder, which plans, writes and validates a real plugin you can keep private or sell.
Tickets, feeds and the rest
Both bots have tickets. MEE6's panel opens a private channel or thread from a button or dropdown into opened, claimed and closed categories, with claim, close, delete and reopen commands and transcripts on Premium. YourBot's Tickets adds a third layout, a review queue with no channel at all, intake forms with eleven field types, staff teams with round-robin assignment, response-time targets, automation rules, escalation between panels, a knowledge base, star ratings and transcripts that outlive the channel, all free.
MEE6's social alerts, on Premium, follow Twitch, Kick, X, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, RSS, podcasts, TikTok and Bluesky, with a live role for Twitch streamers. YourBot's Social Feeds, free, take Twitch, YouTube, Bluesky, RSS, Steam news, GitHub releases, Reddit and Atlassian status pages, plus a one-click catalog of game patch notes, and post nothing from X, Instagram or TikTok. Both run giveaways, with MEE6 offering XP and coin prizes and YourBot offering several prizes, rules for who can enter and an optional Watch live page. Both make temporary channels: MEE6's voice and text channels appear and vanish with activity on Premium, while YourBot's Voice Channels gives each member a voice room they own with a control panel, free. MEE6's economy and birthdays have no YourBot equivalent, and both bots have polls, YourBot's as the /poll command in Beacon Events. MEE6's Bot Maker library has an event module with RSVPs and a looking-for-group module, both on Premium. Signups with role slots like YourBot's Beacon Events and cross-server listings like its Group Finder are not in MEE6's documentation. For server statistics MEE6 offers counter channels on Premium; YourBot offers counter channels and the 11 analytics pages above.
A bot under your own name
Both can do it. MEE6's Bot Personalizer runs MEE6's plugins under your own Discord application, name, avatar, status and activity, hosted by MEE6; it requires Premium with the Personalizer add-on or a yearly or lifetime plan, larger servers must obtain Discord's privileged intents themselves, and its help centre notes that ticket panels, reaction roles and embeds made before the switch stop working until you duplicate them. YourBot's custom bot is the Premium tier: your own application, name, avatar and presence, hosted as a dedicated process that a watchdog restarts if it crashes, with the token encrypted at rest and never shown back to you. If Premium ever lapses the server falls back to the shared bot and the ten built-ins keep running. MEE6's bot replies in the language you pick in its settings; YourBot's bot and dashboard are in English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean.
Switching
There is nothing to migrate, because YourBot has no XP to import. Invite it next to MEE6, run Analytics setup so it pulls up to a year of message history into the charts and turn on Sentinel with Spam & scams in Testing, then move welcome, tickets and roles when you are ready. Keep MEE6 for levels or alerts for as long as they earn their place. Pricing has the current terms and the other comparisons are written the same way.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to MEE6?
YourBot. Ten core services are built in and free on every server, covering moderation, tickets, analytics, events, LFG, voice rooms, welcome flows, announcements, giveaways and social feeds, and an open marketplace covers the rest. MEE6 remains the better pick for XP leveling, custom commands, an economy and alerts from X, Instagram or TikTok.
Does YourBot have leveling like MEE6?
Not leveling exactly. There is no XP bar and no level-up message. Analytics ranks members on real activity across 12 leaderboard metrics, including voice hours, and Role Rewards grants a Discord role automatically once a member crosses a threshold you set on any of 15 metrics, with a revoke if they fall back below it.
Can YourBot replace MEE6 for moderation?
Yes, and it is free. Sentinel is a rules engine with 22 condition types, 13 actions and 3 triggers, 16 filter packs, a Try it box and a Testing mode, plus raid detection, anti-nuke, lockdowns, cases, web appeals and member reports. MEE6's Moderator plugin is a Premium feature with toggleable rulesets that delete or warn.
Does YourBot do welcome messages and welcome images?
Yes, free. Welcome sends welcome and goodbye messages with placeholders and up to 25 rotating variants, draws a welcome card you design from 12 templates or on your own background, animated when that background is, DMs newcomers, grants roles on join and announces member-count milestones. MEE6's Welcome & Goodbye plugin is on Premium.
Does YourBot have custom commands?
No. YourBot has no custom command builder and no general automation editor. Rules and message designers live inside its services instead: Sentinel has moderation rules, Analytics has Role Rewards and alerts, Welcome designs its greeting embeds and Tickets has panels and rules. When you need a feature nobody shipped, you install it from the marketplace or describe it to the Plugin Builder, which writes and validates a real plugin you can keep private or sell.
Which social alerts does each bot support?
MEE6, on Premium: Twitch, Kick, X, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, RSS, podcasts, TikTok and Bluesky. YourBot, free: Twitch, YouTube, Bluesky, RSS, Steam news, GitHub releases, Reddit and Atlassian status pages, plus a one-click catalog of game patch notes. YourBot posts nothing from X, Instagram or TikTok.
Can the bot run under my own name and avatar?
On both. MEE6's Bot Personalizer runs its plugins under your own application on Premium with an add-on or a yearly or lifetime plan. YourBot Premium runs a custom bot: your own application, name, avatar and presence, hosted and restarted for you, with the token encrypted at rest.
Is YourBot free?
Yes. The shared bot runs all ten core services on every server free, with no feature paywalls. Premium, billed per server, adds your own bot identity, marketplace plugins, the Plugin Builder, 50 lifetime Start Your Server designs and premium support.
Are marketplace plugins safe to install?
Every marketplace plugin runs in a locked-down container with no network access, a read-only filesystem and hard memory and CPU limits. Every release is scanned before it can ship, public submissions go through a staff review queue, and you approve what a plugin can touch when you install it.
Can I run MEE6 and YourBot at the same time?
Yes. Both bots can sit in the same server while you switch. Enable the YourBot services that cover the MEE6 features you use, compare for a week and retire whatever you no longer need.
