Dyno alternative: YourBot vs Dyno

Dyno describes itself as the Discord bot that does it all, automatically: a fully customizable server moderation bot with a simple and intuitive web dashboard, used on millions of servers by its own count. The dashboard is the product. Every one of its modules is switched on and configured there, with per-command permissions and a log of who changed which setting. Its free tier covers most modules with caps, while levels, slowmode, auto purge, voice-text linking and the social feeds need a paid plan. Its automod is a rule builder with a long list of filters, every moderation command opens a numbered case, banned members can appeal through a web form, and the same forms engine hosts staff applications and feedback pages. Custom commands, autoresponders, tags, a free ticket module and five social feeds round it out, and a Custom plan runs the whole thing under a bot of your own.

YourBot is one bot whose features are services. Ten are built in and run free on every server: Sentinel moderation, Tickets, Analytics, Beacon Events, Group Finder, Voice Channels, Welcome, Announcements, Giveaways and Social Feeds. Premium, billed per server, adds your own bot identity, an open marketplace where independent developers publish plugins and a Plugin Builder that writes one from a description.

The short version

• Pick Dyno if your server runs on custom commands, autoresponders and web forms, or wants TikTok alerts and a coin economy. YourBot has none of those beyond ticket intake forms and the Tickets help articles that answer trigger words.
• Pick YourBot if you want anti-nuke, raid mode, a message log that names the deleter, server analytics, event signups, LFG and temporary voice rooms, all free, plus a marketplace when you outgrow them.
• Both bots can share a server, so the safe move is to run them side by side and retire whichever one stops earning its place.

How the two are built

Dyno's docs list every one of its modules, and its FAQ says it is not open source. Its site and docs describe no developer program, public API or marketplace; the closest thing is a staff-curated showcase of custom commands to copy and paste.

YourBot's marketplace is open. Anyone builds a plugin with the SDK, publishes it, sets a price and keeps 70% of each sale, rising to 85% as their volume grows, paid to their own Stripe account. Public submissions go through a staff review queue and every version is scanned: nine unsafe code patterns block an upload outright and an obfuscation-aware analyser scores the rest. At runtime a marketplace plugin lives in a container with no network access, a read-only filesystem and hard memory and CPU limits, and you approve what it can touch when you install it. Marketplace plugins run on a custom bot, which comes with Premium.

Moderation

Dyno's automod is a rule builder: pick a filter, tune it, pick an action, and stack several rules on the same filter with different punishments. The filters cover caps, banned words with wildcards, newline floods, duplicate text, character count, emoji spam, fast message spam, image spam, invite links, known phishing links, links with an allow list, masked links, mass mentions, mention and link cooldowns, spoilers, stickers and zalgo text. Actions are delete, a chat notice and mutes or bans that fire instantly or after a number of violations, which expire after a few minutes. Staff are always exempt. Per-rule log channels and custom responses sit on the Standard plan. The moderation module adds a mod-log channel, protected roles, timed mutes and bans that can be re-timed, softban, an option to mute with Discord timeouts, DMs that carry the reason and an appeal link, warnings with an autopunish that fires after a set count, numbered cases, private moderator notes, per-moderator statistics, purges with filters and a lockdown of a preset list of channels. Autoban screens joins by account age or by words and invites in the username. Appeals are built in: a web form, approve or reject from Discord or the dashboard, an optional waiting period and a rejoin invite. Dyno's own FAQ says it does not offer anti-nuke protection against a moderator or administrator turning on the server. For verification, the FAQ links two video guides that build a command-based or a reaction-based system from its modules. A join-rate raid mode is not documented.

Sentinel, YourBot's built-in moderation service, is free and covers that ground. A rule pairs conditions from 22 types, including phrase and regex matching that strips invisible characters, spam rate, mention floods, freshly registered domains, known phishing links, account age, missing avatar, staff look-alike names and a per-member risk score, with any of 13 actions, from delete and warn through timeout, kick, ban, quarantine and voice mute or disconnect, on three triggers: a message, a join or a nickname change. Every rule can run in Testing, where it only notes in the mod log what it would do, and the editor's Try it box says whether a sample message would fire before you save. Warnings expire on a schedule you set and any action can wait for a warning count. Raid mode arms itself on join velocity, look-alike joins are clustered and the invite that brought them is revoked, and anti-nuke watches twelve kinds of damage, from mass bans and channel deletion to dangerous permission grants. It is on from the first time a server turns Sentinel on: it quarantines the account doing the damage, undoes the bans and reverts the permissions, and you can choose another response: remove its roles, kick it, ban it or only alert. A server that used Sentinel before gets a one-click Turn on recommended protection button rather than a silent change. Lockdowns cover a channel, the whole server, a role, new joins or invites and put back exactly what they changed. Every warning, timeout, kick, ban and quarantine opens a numbered case, a rule that acts on a message keeps the messages around it as evidence, and anyone you ban can appeal from a public web page they reach from the ban DM, because a banned member cannot run a slash command. Verification lives in the Welcome service: a button, a captcha or a web page, with an Unverified role and a deadline.

Logging

Dyno's Action Log posts two dozen event types, from message deletes and edits to role, channel, emoji, ban and voice changes, each to its own channel if you like. Its docs are candid about the limits: delete and edit logs come from a small per-channel message cache that is larger on a paid plan, a deleted-message log never says who deleted it and bot messages are not logged. Name, nickname and avatar changes and server setting changes are not in its event list. A separate web log records settings changes, moderation actions, automod hits, commands and warnings.

Sentinel keeps its own short-lived copy of recent messages, so its message log shows the before and after text of an edit or delete and who deleted it even when Discord's cache no longer has the message. Server changes post to seven log categories, members, channels, roles, server settings, voice, content and moderation, each entry with what changed and who did it from the audit log, and bursts of edits are folded into one entry. The dashboard keeps an activity feed of who changed what.

Roles, welcome and verification

Dyno hands out roles on join, immediately or after a delay, offers joinable ranks members pick with a command, reaction roles by reaction, button or dropdown with a single-choice mode, timed roles and sticky roles that survive a rejoin. Its Announcements module posts join, leave and ban messages, and a separate Welcome module sends text, an embed or, on a paid plan, a generated welcome image.

YourBot's Welcome service is free. It sends welcome and goodbye messages with placeholders, up to 25 rotating greetings with their own images, draws a welcome card you design from 12 templates, on a background you supply if you like and animated when that background is, DMs the newcomer, grants roles on join with an optional delay or only after verification, assigns a buddy and posts member-count milestones. Role menus post as buttons, a dropdown or emoji reactions, single or multi choice, and /roles lets members add and drop roles from a list you choose.

Custom commands, forms and automation

Dyno wins this section. Custom commands run Dyno's own commands and use variables for arguments, users, roles and channels; an autoresponder answers trigger phrases with text, an embed or reactions; tags store snippets; hosted forms collect applications, feedback and appeals and post them to a channel; a message embedder manages rich posts; auto messages repeat on a schedule. YourBot has no custom command builder and no forms module outside ticket intake, and its only autoresponder is the Tickets help articles that answer trigger words in the channels you pick. What it has instead is scheduled announcements that post once, daily, weekly or monthly in your server's timezone, plus two ways to get a feature nobody shipped: install it from the marketplace or describe it to the Plugin Builder, which plans, writes and validates a real plugin you can keep private or sell.

Levels or analytics

Dyno's Levels module is a paid feature: XP per message with a cooldown, levelled roles that can stack, level-up messages, XP multipliers per channel or role and a leaderboard command. YourBot has no XP bar and no level-up message. Analytics ranks members on what they actually did, across 12 leaderboard metrics that include voice hours, reactions, threads and days active, and Role Rewards grants a Discord role once someone crosses a threshold on any of 15 metrics, with a revoke if they drop back. The same service has 11 dashboard pages, cohort retention, an hour-by-weekday heatmap, voice session percentiles, dead-channel detection, counter channels, opt-in presence tracking, a public stats page and CSV export, and it never stores what anyone said. Dyno's statistics are info commands for the server, its member count and its moderators.

Tickets, feeds and the rest

Both bots ship tickets free. Dyno's panel opens a private channel with an intake modal and a transcript, and paid plans add more panels, private-thread tickets and extra form fields. YourBot's Tickets adds a review queue with no channel, intake forms with eleven field types, staff teams with round-robin assignment, response-time targets, a knowledge base and star ratings. Dyno's social feeds, Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok and Reddit, sit on its middle paid plan and post through webhooks; YourBot's Social Feeds, free, take Twitch, YouTube, Bluesky, RSS, Steam news, GitHub releases, Reddit and Atlassian status pages, plus a one-click catalog of game patch notes, and post nothing from TikTok. Both run giveaways with rules for who can enter, Dyno with a web entry page per giveaway and YourBot with several prizes and an optional Watch live page. Dyno has a starboard, reaction polls and a global coin economy with a card-battle game; YourBot has a starboard in Analytics and polls in Beacon Events, but no economy. YourBot has Voice Channels for temporary rooms, Beacon Events with role-slot signups and a cross-server Group Finder; Dyno's docs list no temporary voice channels, events module or LFG, its scheduling being repeating auto messages and DM reminders. Neither bot has a music module: Dyno's module index no longer lists one and YourBot never had one.

A bot under your own name, and what each plan covers

Dyno's free tier covers most modules with per-module caps. Its paid plans are Standard, Premium and Custom, with Standard and Premium for one server each. Paid plans are delivered by inviting a separate premium bot account. Standard lifts the caps and unlocks levels, slowmode, auto purge and the advanced automod options, Premium adds the social feeds and Custom is a hosted bot under your own username, avatar and status, built on a Discord application you create with Dyno's wizard. YourBot's free plan runs all ten core services with no feature paywalls. Premium, billed per server, moves your server onto a custom bot: your own application, name, avatar and presence, hosted as a dedicated process that a watchdog restarts if it crashes, with the token encrypted at rest and never shown back to you. It also opens the marketplace, the Plugin Builder and premium support, and if it ever lapses the server falls back to the shared bot. Dyno's bot and dashboard come in several languages; YourBot's bot and dashboard are in English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean. Both publish a live status page.

Switching

Run both for a while. Invite YourBot next to Dyno, turn on Sentinel with Spam & scams in Testing until you trust its rules, run Analytics setup so it pulls up to a year of message history into the charts, then move welcome, roles and tickets when you are ready. Keep Dyno for the custom commands and forms it does better for as long as they earn their place. Pricing has the current terms and the other comparisons are written the same way.
