The Discord LFG bot for gaming servers

Group Finder is YourBot's LFG service. A player posts a group with named roles, others claim a seat from a menu and the group keeps its own roster, waiting list and start time. All of it runs on the Free plan.

A roster instead of a reply chain

A group is one live post. Players pick the role they will play, the roster updates for everyone and the title says how many seats are still open, so nobody scrolls back through a chat to find out.

Pick a role from a menu

With roles, joining means choosing a role from a menu that lists only the roles with space and how many spots each has left. A group without roles has one Join button.

The count stays honest

Seats are counted under a database lock, so two clicks in the same second never put six players in a group of five.

A waiting list that moves on its own

When a full group loses a member, the first player on the waiting list takes the seat and gets a DM saying so.

Ready-made templates5
  • Generic LFG 5 players No roles, one Join button
  • Dungeon Finder 5 players Tank 1 · Healer 1 · DPS 3
  • Raid Finder 20 players Tank 2 · Healer 5 · DPS 13
  • PvP Squad 5 players No roles, one Join button
  • Event Signup 25 players No roles, one Join button
Any server can add its own, with its own roles, colours and look.
Apply instead of join When the leader lets people in by hand, the post has an Apply button that asks for a short note. The leader gets a DM and answers on the group's page or with /group approve or /group deny. Admins can make every group work this way.
Watch without joining Watch sends you a DM when someone joins or leaves, when the group fills, closes, runs out of time or completes and before it starts.
Edit, bump or relist Leaders change the title, description or size and post the group again with a bump once an hour, in Discord or on the group's page, and relist a closed or expired group with one command.
02

Tonight, next Friday or every week

A group can start now or later. Give it a start time and Group Finder handles the reminder, the calendar and, if it repeats, next week's post.

Offer two to five start times. Members vote and can change their vote, and closing the poll makes the winner the start time, with a DM to everyone signed up. A tie goes to the earliest time.

In every member's own time zone

In Discord a start time is typed from now, like 30m, 2h or 3d, and on the dashboard's New group it is a clock time, up to 14 days ahead either way. It shows as a Discord timestamp, so each member reads their own local time.

A DM before it starts

A scheduled group's hours count from its start, so it is still open when the group begins. About 15 minutes before, everyone signed up and everyone watching gets a reminder.

On the calendar people check

A group with a start time carries an Add to calendar link (an .ics file any calendar app opens) and a Google Calendar link, in Discord and on the group's page.

Runs that repeat

Repeat daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly, up to 52 runs or until you stop it. Once a run ends, the next one posts itself, no earlier than three days before it starts, with the same roles, channel and settings.

03

From ready check to rating

When it is time to play, the leader runs the group from the post's own buttons or the group's page, and the group leaves a record when it is done.

A voice channel when it fills If a group needs voice, the bot opens a voice channel named after the group when the last seat fills, capped at the group size, and deletes it when the group ends.
Done closes it everywhere Done marks the group completed on every server that shows it, credits everyone who played and asks each member to rate the leader.
A record for every player Each member's record, on My groups, counts the groups they joined (their own too) and finished and their no-shows. Their teammate rating shows on the groups they lead from three votes on.
No-shows on file A leader can log a member who never turned up with /group noshow. It counts on that member's record.
04

Groups reach the players who want them

Nobody has to sit in the LFG channel. Players save what they are looking for, and a server can ping the people who play the game.

Instant alerts and game pings share one cap: five a member an hour.

Saved alerts

/group-alerts add, or My alerts on the dashboard, saves a filter on game, region or platform. Matching groups arrive by DM, in the server's alert channel or as one digest an hour, with optional quiet hours.

Game pings

Off until a manager turns them on. Then, for a group posted with /group create, on the dashboard or as the next run of a repeating group, members who joined a group for the same game in the last 14 days (1 to 90, your choice) get a DM, up to 25 a group and once per game every eight hours, with a Stop button. For a group that is not posted from the dashboard, a custom bot with Discord's Presence intent also reaches members playing the game right now.

Find open groups

/group browse lists open groups eight a page, filtered by game, region or platform and sorted newest, expiring soon or closest to full, with groups from partner servers marked. Find a group on the dashboard filters by game, activity, region and level.

Call your last team back

/group reinvite sends up to ten recent teammates a DM about your new group.

05

Share groups with partner servers

A group stays on your server unless you say otherwise. Partner networks link servers that agree to share, and a group on the public page reaches the website too.

Visibility

Local

This server only, and the default.

Visibility

Network

Partner servers too. A copy posts in each server of the networks you pick. Members join from their own server, and every copy shows the same live roster.

Visibility

Public

The public page. Every network you are in, plus your server's public page and the all-servers board on the website. The server has to let members put a group on the public page; without that the group is shared with partner servers only.

  1. An admin starts a network and shares its code.
  2. Partner admins join with that code and choose whether their groups show there, whether the network's groups show here or both.
  3. Groups shared with partner servers then reach the partners that show them.
Leaving is clean When a server leaves a network, every copy it can no longer reach loses its buttons and says it is no longer shared.
A group chat in the browser Every group gets a chat on its own page, for the leader and everyone signed up or waiting, with who is online, @mentions, reactions and a pinned message. A server can limit chats to groups shared with other servers. It turns read-only when the group ends and stays readable for 24 hours.
A public page and a widget Every server gets a public page of the groups on it, from the server and its partners, that anyone can browse without logging in, and a widget for your own site in a dark or light theme.
Groups looking for players yourbot.gg/lfg lists the public groups of every server. A signed-in player opens a group's page and joins there when they are in a server it reaches. Anyone else asks to join with a note, the leader gets a DM and answers on the group's page.
06

Your server, your rules

Managers decide who can post, how often and where, from the dashboard settings or with /group-admin.

Posting limits
  • Open groups per member, 3 by default
  • A wait between two groups, 60 seconds by default
  • A minimum account age
  • Blocked words, up to 50 words
  • Suspensions from 1 hour to 30 days, with a reason
  • Every leader lets people in by hand, if you want
  • How long a group stays open by default and at most, 4 and 48 hours unless you change them

The same rules apply to the slash commands and to New group on the dashboard.

Templates with your look Named roles with emoji and a cap each, an icon, colours for open and full groups, a badge, author line, thumbnail, banner, footer and title link, with the post shown live while you edit.
Every command, your rules Any of the 39 commands can be limited to roles, channels or members, given a cooldown or switched off. The Join, Leave, Watch and Apply buttons follow the same rules.
Moderation in one place Members report a group with /group report or on its page. Managers answer reports and suspend members on the Safety page, close any group or remove a member from it, and read the activity log.

Questions

What is the best LFG bot for Discord?

YourBot's built-in Group Finder posts groups with roles claimed from a menu, a waiting list that moves up by itself, ready checks and templates, plus start times with reminders and calendar links, repeating runs, time polls, teammate ratings, a chat for every group and opt-in partner servers. It comes with every server on the Free plan, so there is no separate LFG bot to invite.

How does the Group Finder work?

A player runs /group create, or fills in New group on the dashboard, and the group posts as one live message. Teammates join with one click or, when the group has roles, pick a role from its menu, in Discord or on the group's own page. The message updates as seats fill and its title shows how many players are still needed. When a full group loses someone, the first player on the waiting list takes the seat.

Where do groups post?

In the channel you set for groups. On a server that never ran setup, the first /group create makes the channel it was typed in that channel. /group setup builds a Group Finder category with #lfg-listings and #lfg-forum, and from then on each new group opens as its own thread in the forum, with the live post at the top.

Does it work across servers?

Yes, when both sides opt in. An admin starts a network and shares its code, partner admins join it and each server chooses whether its groups show there, whether the network's groups show here or both. A group then stays on this server, goes to partner servers too or goes on the public page. Partner servers get a copy with working buttons and one shared roster that keeps every copy in sync. The public page goes to every network you are in plus the public pages on the website, once your server lets members put groups there. Leaving a network retires the copies you no longer share.

Can I schedule a group for later instead of a pickup run?

Yes. Give the group a start time such as 2h or 3d in Discord, or a clock time on New group, up to 14 days ahead, and it shows as a Discord timestamp in each member's own time zone, with Add to calendar and Google Calendar links. The group's hours count from the start, and about 15 minutes before it begins, everyone signed up and everyone watching gets a DM.

Can a group repeat every week?

Yes. Give the group a start time and set it to repeat daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly, with /group create or on New group, or use /group repeat on a group you already posted. Once a run ends, the next one posts itself, no earlier than three days before it starts, with the same roles, channel and settings, until it reaches the count you set (52 runs at most) or you stop it.

How do I stop LFG spam in my server?

Admins cap how many groups a member can have open (3 by default), set a wait between two groups (60 seconds by default), a minimum account age, up to 50 blocked words and suspensions from 1 hour to 30 days with a reason. The same rules cover the slash commands and New group on the dashboard, and a group can be bumped once an hour.

Can players get notified when a group they want is posted?

Yes. /group-alerts add, or My alerts on the dashboard, saves a filter on game, region or platform. Matching groups arrive by DM, in the server's alert channel or as one digest an hour, with quiet hours if you want them. Alerts cover the server they were saved on. Game pings reach the people who never saved an alert: once a server turns them on, members who joined a group for the same game recently get a DM when a new one is posted with /group create or on the dashboard, at most once per game every eight hours, with a Stop button on every DM.

How do teammate ratings work?

When the leader marks a group Done, every other member gets a DM with a thumbs up or a thumbs down for the leader. From three votes on, the leader's rating shows on the groups they lead as a percentage and a count, and in their own record on My groups. Only the total ever shows, never who voted.

Does it work for MMOs like WoW and FFXIV?

Yes. The setup wizard reads your channel and role names to spot nine games, among them World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, Guild Wars 2, Destiny and Path of Exile, and can add starter templates for WoW, FFXIV and Guild Wars 2. Nothing is tied to one game: a group carries any game name, a group size from 2 to 40 and the roles you define.

Is the LFG service free?

Yes. Group Finder is one of the ten core services on the Free plan, with no feature held back. Premium is billed per server and adds your own custom bot hosted by YourBot, marketplace plugins, running your Plugin Builder creations and 50 free Start Your Server designs.
