Welcomer is a bot built around the welcome. It greets new members in a channel and by DM, draws an image with their avatar, hands out roles on join and can send new members to a web page, Borderwall, that checks them before they get in. Around that sit leave messages, rules sent on join, roles members pick themselves, reaction roles, time roles, temporary voice channels, giveaways, polls and analytics on its dashboard. Its code is open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Welcomer Pro, a paid plan for a server, adds animated images, a joined counter that never drops, deleting welcome and leave messages after a while and the bot's own name, avatar, banner and bio on that server; uploading your own background needs Pro or a one-time purchase.
YourBot is one bot whose features are services. Ten are built in and run free on every server, and Welcome is the one that covers Welcomer's ground: greetings designed in a live editor, cards built in a studio, verification, roles, rules and an engagement kit. The other nine include Sentinel moderation, Tickets and Analytics. Premium, billed per server, adds a bot under your own name, the open marketplace and the Plugin Builder.
The short version
- Pick Welcomer if you want the widest choice of fonts for the welcome image, 1,907 against YourBot's 39, a VPN and proxy check on web verification, or open-source code you can read.
- Pick YourBot if you want animated welcome cards, the card in the welcome DM, a join number that never drops and greetings that delete themselves, all free, with verification that can also run inside Discord and ends in a deadline. Moderation, tickets, analytics, events and the rest run in the same bot, in seven languages.
- If you run both for a while, let only one of them greet, verify and hand out each role; Switching below has the order.
How the two are built
Welcomer is a first-party bot with its code published on GitHub. Its dashboard holds the welcome, leave, rules, roles and verification settings, giveaways and polls run as slash commands, and its site and replies are in English. It screens the texts you save, such as the welcome and the rules, before sending them.
YourBot's marketplace is open: anyone builds a plugin with the SDK, and every marketplace plugin runs sandboxed with no network access and is reviewed before it ships. The dashboard and the bot's replies come in seven languages. On the shared bot, Welcome checks the text you save for invite spam and scams and holds it until you change it; a custom bot sends your text as written. This page compares Welcomer with Welcome, with the other nine services and the marketplace as the reason to prefer the bundle.
The welcome message
Both bots greet in a channel and by DM, with text or an embed, and fill in tags for the member, the server and the invite. Welcomer's tags use Mustache: sections show text only when something is true, and functions add ordinals and number and date formats. Welcome has 24 tags and conditions such as {if user.returning}...{else}...{end}, prints ranks like 1,234th in the server's language and fills inviter tags from the Analytics service's invite tracking. Its Greeting page designs the embed part by part with a preview drawn by the bot's own renderer, adds up to 3 link buttons and rotates up to 25 greetings.
Welcomer's welcome DM carries text and an embed but no image. Welcome's DM can carry the same card as the channel, and the goodbye gets a card of its own.
The welcome image
Welcomer draws a classic image in three layouts with a circle, rounded or square avatar over one of 42 stock backgrounds, a colour or the avatar's colour. Its custom builder, marked beta, places up to 20 text, image and shape layers on a canvas of up to 2,000 pixels with 1,907 Google Fonts. Uploading your own background needs Pro or the Custom Backgrounds purchase, and images animate only with Pro.
Welcome's Card Studio starts from 12 templates and places up to 20 text, avatar, image and shape layers on a card from 300 to 2,000 pixels, with 39 fonts, outlines, shadows, glows and a frosted-glass blur. Backgrounds come from 54 built-in pictures, a colour, a gradient, the avatar's main colour, your upload or a link, and an animated GIF or WebP background makes an animated card, free. Characters a font lacks are drawn from the Noto fonts, so names in any script and colour emoji show up.
Verification
Welcomer's Borderwall sends every new member a link to a web page where they sign in with Discord and pass a reCAPTCHA check and a VPN and proxy check, then gives the roles you chose for verified members. It keeps the IP address, country and browser of each attempt, and sets no deadline: a member who never verifies stays.
Welcome verifies with a button or a captcha image inside Discord, or a web page where the member signs in with Discord, and can hold everyone or only new accounts and accounts without an avatar. An Unverified role can hide channels until then, and a deadline of up to seven days ends in a kick, a ban, a hold role or nothing, with one DM reminder before it. Its verification records keep Discord IDs and no IP address, and it has no VPN check. Your rules can sit under the button.
Roles and rules
Both bots give roles on join. Welcomer's /freeroles lets members pick roles from a list, its reaction roles come as emoji, buttons or a dropdown and Time Roles hand out roles for time in the server. Welcome's /roles does what /freeroles does, its role menus come as buttons, a dropdown or emoji reactions on a message the bot posts or one already in your server, and members can get their roles back when they rejoin. Each role on join can wait up to a year before it is given and can be taken away again after a time you set, so one list covers a role for a newcomer's first week and roles for time in the server, and members already in the server can get them by their own join dates. The Analytics service's role rewards can also reward messages, voice time and invites.
Both send numbered rules by DM on join and show them with /rules. Welcome also puts them under the verification button and posts them to a channel, editing that copy when they change.
Cleanup and counting
Welcomer deletes welcome and leave messages after a while, or the welcome when its member leaves, with Pro, and its joined counter that never drops is Pro too. Welcome does both free: greetings and goodbyes can go after up to a day, a greeting can go when its member leaves within a window you set, and {join_count} never goes down and can be set by hand.
Everything else
Welcomer adds temporary voice channels, giveaways and polls by command, an invite leaderboard and analytics. Its public code and site show no automod, tickets or moderation commands beyond cleanup and purge. YourBot's other services cover that ground: Sentinel moderation with anti-nuke and raid mode, Tickets, Analytics with invite tracking and a /invites leaderboard, Beacon events and polls, Giveaways, join-to-create voice rooms with owner controls, social alerts and announcements. Both offer a custom look for the bot on your server as a paid extra: Welcomer's Pro sets its nickname, avatar, banner and bio there, and YourBot's Premium does the same on the shared bot or gives you a bot of your own.
Switching
Turn off Welcomer's welcome, leave messages and Borderwall before you turn on Welcome's, so nobody is greeted or verified twice. Set the join counter on the Logs & cleanup page to the number Welcomer reached, so the numbering carries on. Copy your rules into the rules list, put the free roles on the list for /roles and rebuild reaction roles as role menus; a reaction menu can take over the message Welcomer used once Welcomer's reaction roles are removed from it. Card designs do not carry over, so start from a template in the Card Studio. Pricing has the current terms and the other comparisons are written the same way.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Welcomer?
YourBot's built-in Welcome service: cards you design in a studio and animate free, the card in the welcome DM, verification by button, captcha or web page with a deadline, reaction roles, /roles and rules, all free on every server next to nine other services. Welcomer remains the pick for the widest font choice in its image builder, a VPN check on web verification and open-source code.
Can YourBot send an animated welcome image?
Yes, free. Give the card an animated GIF or WebP background and it goes out as an animated GIF of up to 48 frames, 800 pixels wide and 8 MB; past that a still card is sent. Welcomer animates its image with Pro.
Can the welcome DM include the image?
Yes. On the Greeting page, Include the welcome card attaches the same card to the DM. Welcomer's welcome DM carries text and an embed but no image.
How does the Card Studio compare with Welcomer's image builder?
Both place up to 20 layers on a canvas of up to 2,000 pixels. Welcomer's builder offers 1,907 Google Fonts. The Card Studio has 39 fonts, 12 templates to start from, 54 built-in backgrounds plus gradients, animation for free and Noto fallbacks for names in other scripts and for emoji.
Can I keep my member numbering from Welcomer?
Yes. Set the join counter on the Logs & cleanup page to the number Welcomer reached and {join_count} carries on from there. It never goes down, and it is free.
Does YourBot have something like Borderwall?
Yes, the verification gate in Welcome: a web page where members sign in with Discord, or a button or a captcha inside Discord, for everyone or only for new accounts, with an Unverified role and a deadline. It has no VPN or proxy check, and its records keep no IP addresses.
Does YourBot have free roles and reaction roles?
Yes. /roles lets members add and drop roles from a list you choose, like /freeroles, and role menus come as buttons, a dropdown or emoji reactions, on a message the bot posts or one you already posted.
What does Welcomer have that YourBot does not?
1,907 fonts in its image builder, a VPN and proxy check with reCAPTCHA on its verification page, number and date formats in its tags and open-source code. Time roles are a feature of their own there; in YourBot they are roles on join with a wait of up to a year.
Can I run both bots while I switch?
Yes, as long as only one of them greets, verifies and hands out each role. Turn off Welcomer's welcome, leave messages and Borderwall before you turn on Welcome's, and remove Welcomer's reaction roles from a message before a YourBot menu takes it over.
Is YourBot free?
Welcome and the nine other built-in services are free on every server. Premium, billed per server, adds a bot under your own name or the shared bot with your picture, banner and bio, the open marketplace and the Plugin Builder.
