How we checked Everything this table says about the other bots comes from each bot's own public pages, not hands-on testing. We compare stable structural facts only, and a row appears only where every bot's own pages settle it. Last verified 2026-10-12.

These are the three most-used Discord bots whose own sites present welcome messages as a main feature, ranked by the server counts they publish. All three do much more than greet, and each gives the welcome a section or a card of its own on its homepage. Everything this page says about them comes from their own websites and docs.

MEE6

MEE6 is one of the most widely used Discord bots, and its homepage gives welcome messages a section of its own. Its Welcome & Goodbye plugin greets new members with a text or an embed in a channel you choose, with variables such as {user} and {server}, and can send a welcome card image with it. A private message can go to the member too, with the card attached if you like, and a goodbye can follow when a member leaves. The same plugin gives new members one or more roles. MEE6's help center says the Welcome & Goodbye plugin needs MEE6 Premium, and Premium is also what lets you change the card's font, colours and background. Its Reaction Roles, on Premium too, come as emoji, buttons or a dropdown.

Best if you already run MEE6 Premium and want the welcome and its card in the same dashboard as its other plugins.

Carl-bot

Reaction roles are the first card on Carl-bot's homepage, and Greetings sits beside them. Carl-bot greets new members with rich embeds and variables, can send a separate DM, set a farewell and announce bans. Its variables include the member count as an ordinal, such as 8,102nd. Autoroles are given on join and timed roles after a delay, and the bot can re-add roles when a member leaves and rejoins. Its reaction roles come in modes such as unique, verify and reversed. Joins and leaves can be logged in a channel of their own, and its docs recommend the dashboard for setting up greetings. Carl-bot has a free tier, with Premium for higher limits and extra tools.

Best if you want reaction roles in many modes, autoroles on a timer and roles that come back on rejoin, with greetings in the same bot.

ProBot

ProBot's homepage calls it a very customizable multipurpose bot for welcome images, in-depth logs, social commands, moderation and more. Its first feature is welcome messages and images. The welcome image puts the member's username and avatar on a background image you choose, and you set where the avatar and the username go and how big they are. The welcome text goes to a channel or by DM and takes variables for the member, the server, the member count and the member who invited them. A goodbye goes to a channel you choose. Auto-roles give new members one or more roles, and self-assignable roles come as reactions, buttons or select menus in Toggle, Give or Take mode. Its Logs module records members joining and leaving, and its Anti-Raid, for Premium subscribers, can keep raiders from spamming the welcome. ProBot can be used for free, with a premium subscription for some features.

Best if you want a welcome image you lay out on your own background, with an inviter variable in the welcome text.

Welcome, built into YourBot

Welcome is one of YourBot's ten core services, and every feature below is free on the shared bot. The greeting is text or an embed you design, in a channel and by DM, with up to 25 rotating variants, 24 tags and conditions for returning members, new accounts or a known inviter. Inviter tags come from the Analytics service's invite tracking and print Unknown when the bot is not sure. The bot draws a card you design in the Card Studio from 12 templates, with up to 20 layers and 39 fonts, animated when the background is. The DM can carry the same card, and a goodbye can have a card of its own.

Each role on join can wait up to a year before it is given and be taken away again later, and returning members get back the roles they held. Role menus come as buttons, a dropdown or emoji reactions in six modes, beside /roles for a list members pick from. A verification gate can hold new members until they press a Verify button, solve a captcha or sign in on a web page, with a deadline and a one-click setup. Rules, a welcome quest, a buddy for each newcomer and member milestones come with it, and a join and leave log names the inviter when it is known.

Best if you want a card you design, verification and role menus free, in the same bot as moderation, tickets and the other services.

The one-on-one pages go further: YourBot vs MEE6, YourBot vs Carl-bot and YourBot vs ProBot. Welcomer, a bot built around the welcome, came fourth among bots whose sites present welcome messages as a main feature, and YourBot vs Welcomer sets it beside Welcome.

Frequently asked questions

Which Discord welcome bot is the most used?

By the server counts the bots publish, MEE6 is the most used bot with welcome messages among its main features, then Carl-bot and ProBot. Welcomer, a bot built around the welcome, comes fourth. The counts change every day, so this page gives the order and not the numbers.

Are these welcome bots free?

All four have a free plan. MEE6's help center says its Welcome & Goodbye plugin needs MEE6 Premium, Carl-bot's Premium adds higher limits and extra tools and ProBot keeps some features for a premium subscription. YourBot's Welcome runs free on the shared bot with every feature; Premium adds your own custom bot and the marketplace.

Can YourBot hold new members until they verify?

Yes. Welcome's verification gate asks new members to press a Verify button, solve a captcha or sign in with Discord on a web page. A deadline of up to seven days ends in a kick, a ban, a hold role or nothing, your choice. One click can make the Unverified role and the verify channel for you.

Can I move from another welcome bot?

Yes. Turn off the old bot's welcome and goodbye before you turn Welcome's on, so nobody is greeted twice. Rewrite the message with Welcome's tags, start a card from a template in the Card Studio and set the join counter on the Logs & cleanup page to the number the old bot reached. Reaction roles can be rebuilt as role menus, also on a message you already posted.
