Opens a ticket from any message. Right-click the message, choose Apps, then Start ticket. The ticket quotes the message at the top. It opens for you, the person using the menu, unless the server lets staff open it for the message's author.
The bot first applies the server's Command Access rules for the Start ticket menu and checks that Tickets is enabled. Used outside a server, or in a server where Tickets is off, it answers "❌ Tickets is not enabled for this server."
Who may use it is set on 1 Opening: in the "Every panel" view, open "Advanced" and find "Tickets from a message". "Who can use Start ticket" starts at "Staff teams and people with Manage Server": members with Manage Server or members of any staff team. Other members see "Starting a ticket from a message is limited to staff on this server." The other choices are "Everyone" and "Only people with Manage Server".
Which panel the ticket uses comes from "Panel the ticket opens in" in the same box. When that panel is off or the choice is "The first panel that is on", the first panel that is on and does not take applications is used. With none available: "No ticket panel is set up here yet, so there is nothing to open a ticket into." The panel's rules on who can open tickets from it (1 Opening, "Who can open tickets from this panel") then apply to you, as they do at its button.
When the ticket opens for you, it behaves like clicking that panel's button: the same blacklist, support hours, cooldown and limit checks run, and the panel's intake form opens when it has one. The bot remembers the message for 10 minutes while you fill the form. Once the ticket channel exists, the bot posts an embed titled "Started from a message" with up to 1000 characters of the message text ("(no text)" when it had none), its Author, Where (the channel name) and a Link to the original message, plus a footer counting attachments when there were any. The post pings nobody.
With "Add the message's author to the ticket" on (same box; it is on by default), the message's author is given access to the ticket channel or thread, unless they are a bot or the ticket's owner. Turn it off for reports where the author should not know a ticket exists.
"Who owns the ticket", in the same box, offers "The person who used Start ticket" (the default) and "The message's author, with the staff member added". With the second, staff using the menu open the ticket for the author. The author owns it, and the blacklist, support hours, the cooldown, the open ticket limits and the panel's form are skipped. You are added to the ticket, and besides the quoted message the bot posts an embed "Opened by staff": "Opened by @you for @author." You get a private "✅ Opened #<ticket> for @author." The author only becomes the owner when the person using the menu is staff (Manage Server or a staff team) and the author is a different, human member still in the server. Otherwise the ticket opens for the person who used the menu as described above, so a member can never open a ticket for someone else this way.
Good to know
- Threads and text channels both work; the author is added to a thread or given read and send permission on a channel.
- The menu never opens a ticket into a form-only (application) panel.
- /ticket open lets staff open a ticket for any member without a message.
