Adds a role to the list every new member receives, and switches auto roles on. Requires Manage Server; without it the bot replies "Requires Manage Server." The reply is visible only to you.
The bot checks the role before saving it and refuses with "I can't hand out that role automatically: <reason>" when the role is @everyone, is managed by an integration, grants a privileged permission (Administrator, Manage Roles, Manage Server, Manage Channels, Ban Members, Kick Members, Manage Webhooks or Mention Everyone), or sits at or above the bot's top role. In the last case the reply asks you to move the bot's role above it in Server Settings, Roles.
A role that passes is added to the list, given at join. Adding a role that is already in the list does nothing extra and keeps its timers. The bot replies "Auto-role set: @role."
Good to know
- The command only adds. To remove a role, or to give it a wait or a time to take it away again, use Roles on join on the Roles page.
- A role without a wait is given the moment a member joins. A role with Give it after set on the Roles page is given after its wait, and a member who leaves in the meantime never gets it. During a rush of joins the roles can arrive a few seconds later.
- With verification on, the roles wait until the member verifies.
- The same check runs again at every join, so a role that later gains a dangerous permission or moves above the bot is skipped without an error message.
