Voice Channels is granted these permissions by the invite link. A command that finds one missing replies privately with what it could not do and changes nothing.

Behaviour

Checked against the code 2026-10-12

Hands your room to someone who is in it. The member option is the new owner. Same checks as the other owner commands: the service is on, you are inside one of its rooms and you own it (or you hold Manage Channels or Administrator on the server).

The bot refuses a bot account with "Pick a member.", the current owner with "They already own this room." and anyone not in the room with "{name} has to be in the room to take it over."

On a transfer the bot records the new owner and replaces the control panel in your DMs with the line "This room now belongs to {name}." without its buttons. When the server also posts the panel in the room's chat, that copy stays and now names the new owner. The new owner gets a fresh panel when the panel is on for that lobby. When the server gives owners Discord's own channel menu (on the Room owners page, "Owners can also use Discord's own channel menu"), the new owner receives the owner permissions on the room in Discord and your own entry on the room is removed. You see a private reply: "👑 {name} now owns this room."

Good to know

  • After the transfer the owner commands answer you with "Only the room's owner can do that. If they left, use /voice claim." unless you hold Manage Channels or Administrator. The new owner can transfer it back.
  • Rooms also change hands on their own. By default (on the Room owners page, "When the owner leaves"), an owner who leaves a room with people still in it hands it to the first person inside. The room's chat then gets "👑 {name} now owns this room."
  • The Rooms page can hand a room to any member of the server except a bot, in the room or not.
  • The panel's Transfer button opens a member picker ("Who becomes the owner?") on the /voice info panel and on the panel's copy in the room's chat. In the panel sent to your DMs it shows a list of the people in your room instead (bots are left out). When nobody else is there it answers "Nobody else is in your room."
