Voice Channels is granted these permissions by the invite link. A command that finds one missing replies privately with what it could not do and changes nothing.

Renames the room you are in. The name option takes 1 to 90 characters. Same checks as the other owner commands: the service is on, you are inside one of its rooms and you own it (or you hold Manage Channels or Administrator on the server).

Discord allows two renames per channel every ten minutes, and the bot enforces that itself. The first two go through; a third is refused with "Discord allows two renames per room every ten minutes. Try again in {n} min." If Discord holds a rename for more than five seconds the bot gives up on it, counts it and replies "Discord is limiting renames on this room right now. Try again in a few minutes."

On success you see a private reply: "Renamed to {name}." The bot shows as thinking first, since Discord may hold the edit. Surrounding spaces are trimmed. The room keeps the new name until someone renames it again, and the Rooms page shows it.

Good to know

  • The two-per-ten-minutes count is per room and shared by the slash command and the panel's Rename button. The bot keeps the count in memory, so a restart clears it. Renames made on the Rooms page or in Discord's own channel menu are not counted.
  • A rename is not remembered for your next rooms. The name option of /voice prefs does that.
  • A new room's name comes from the New rooms page, "Room name", unless its lobby has its own on the Lobbies page, "A lobby's short name and what its rooms are called". A name the owner saved with /voice prefs wins over both.
