/beacon close stops sign-ups for an event without cancelling it. event_id is the event number from /beacon list. The event is marked closed and its posted card is refreshed with the sign-up buttons removed. The roster stays as it is. Only you see the reply: "🔒 Signups closed for Title."
The bot applies your Command Access rules first. The event must be in this server ("Event not found."), and only the organizer or a member with Manage Server can close it ("Only the event organizer or a server manager can close events.").
Good to know
- A closed event stays closed after its start time. It is not marked complete, no recap is posted to the announcement channel, and attendance is not credited to members' reputation. Reopen it with
/beacon openbefore it starts if you want those. - While the event is closed its reminders are held back. They are not lost: if you reopen the event before it starts, a reminder whose time has come goes out on the bot's next check.
- Closing does not message the members who signed up.
- Reopening does not put the buttons back on the card. See
/beacon open. - To stop late joiners automatically instead, set a Signup Deadline on the event in the dashboard editor. The card then shows when sign-ups close, and a member who tries after that sees "🔒 Signups for this event closed N minutes before the start."
