Claims the ticket in the current channel so everyone knows who is handling it. Run again on a ticket you hold, it releases the claim.
The bot first applies the server's Command Access rules for /ticket claim and checks that Tickets is enabled ("❌ Tickets is not enabled for this server."). The command only works inside a ticket channel or thread; elsewhere it answers "No ticket found in this channel." A closed ticket answers "This ticket is already closed." Only staff may claim: members with Manage Server, members of the ticket's staff team (added as a user or through a role), and holders of a role that was given access when the ticket opened. Anyone else sees "Only staff can claim tickets."
On an unclaimed ticket you become the claimer and the ticket's status changes to Claimed. The bot posts "🙋 Ticket claimed by @you!" in the channel for everyone to see, and the Claim button on the welcome message turns into Unclaim. When the Settings page's member notification "When a staff member claims it" is on and the member has not run /ticket dms off, the member gets a DM: "<your display name> is now handling your ticket #<number> in <server>." followed by a link to the channel.
On a ticket you already hold, or on any claimed ticket when you are an Administrator or the server owner, the command releases the claim. The bot posts "🔓 Ticket unclaimed." and the Claim button returns. Other staff trying to claim a held ticket see "This ticket is already claimed by @<holder>. Only they or an admin can unclaim it."
Good to know
- The Claim button in the ticket's welcome message does the same thing and follows the same Command Access rules.
- A ticket must be claimed before staff can close it with /ticket close or the Close button. The member who opened it can close without a claim.
- /ticket assign hands the claim to another staff member.
- The dashboard Overview page lists your claimed tickets.
