The Moderation preset limits it to the roles you mark as moderators. Server owners and Administrators can always run it. How Command Access works.

What the bot needs

Tickets is granted these permissions by the invite link. A command that finds one missing replies privately with what it could not do and changes nothing.

Behaviour

Checked against the code 2026-09-21

Opens a ticket from any message. Right-click the message, choose Apps, then Start ticket. The ticket opens for you, the person using the menu, and quotes the message at the top.

The bot first applies the server's Command Access rules for the Start ticket menu and checks that Tickets is enabled. Used outside a server, or in a server where Tickets is off, it answers "❌ Tickets is not enabled for this server."

Who may use it is set on the dashboard Settings page under "Start a ticket from a message", field "Who can use it". The default is staff: members with Manage Server or members of any staff team. Other members see "Starting a ticket from a message is limited to staff on this server." The setting can also allow everyone, or only members with Manage Server.

Which panel the ticket uses comes from the same section, field "Panel to use". When that panel is disabled or the field is empty, the first enabled channel-based panel is used. With none available: "No ticket panel is set up here yet, so there is nothing to open a ticket into."

From there it behaves like clicking that panel's button: the same blacklist, support hours, cooldown and limit checks run, and the panel's intake form opens when it has one. The bot remembers the message for ten minutes while you fill the form. Once the ticket channel exists, the bot posts an embed titled "Started from a message" with up to 1000 characters of the message text ("(no text)" when it had none), its Author, Where (the channel name), a Link to the original message, and a footer counting attachments when there were any. The post pings nobody.

With the Settings page switch "Add the message author to the ticket" on (it is on by default), the message's author is given access to the ticket channel or thread, unless they are a bot or you. Turn it off for reports where the author should not know a ticket exists.

Good to know

  • Threads and text channels both work; the author is added to a thread or given read and send permission on a channel.
  • The menu never opens a ticket into a form-only (application) panel.
