Giveaways settings

The Giveaways settings, from the typed spec the dashboard form and the AI server builder share. Accepted range is what the settings writer takes; where the form or the service is stricter, the description says so. Controls that exist only on the dashboard form are listed at the end.

The builder starts with this channel picked for a new giveaway; each giveaway can pick another, and posts and announces its winners in its own channel. /giveaway create posts in the channel it is typed in. Run setup keeps the channel picked here; when none is picked, or the bot cannot use it, setup reuses #giveaways or creates it and fills this in. Unset by default; the service counts as set up once it is filled. The dashboard health check flags giveaway announcements while this is empty or points at something deleted.
Access

People who can manage the server always can. On the dashboard it is your Access roles that decide. A prize nobody claimed can always be drawn again from Winners.
New giveaways get a Watch live pagespectator_enabled on or off Giveaways, Settings, More starting points. A new giveaway starts with the Watch live page on, in the builder and with /giveaway create. Default on. A giveaway with it on gets a public page that shows people entering and plays the draw, linked from the post as Watch live and from the results as Full results and replay. Discord shows the end time on the post in each viewer's own time zone.

Also on the dashboard form

How long a winner waits before winning again Settings, Fair play: "Someone who won a giveaway here sits out the next" number of days. It is the rule for every giveaway: they cannot enter, and they are skipped if they were already in when a draw happens. 0 turns it off and the longest is 365 days. A new server starts at 0. A giveaway can ask for a longer wait of its own under Past winners sit out, and the longer of the two counts.
Roles that skip the entry rules Settings, Fair play. Members with one of these roles skip what a giveaway asks under Who can enter: account age, time in the server, roles and messages. They do not get around the blocked list, the wait for past winners, things to do or an invite minimum. None to start with.
Blocked members and roles Settings, Fair play, Blocked from giveaways. Block someone takes a role or a member, by name or Discord user ID (also someone who is not in the server), with a reason only your team sees. Blocked members and roles cannot enter any giveaway here and are never drawn. @everyone cannot be blocked. People who can manage the server can do the same in Discord with /giveaway blacklist add, remove and list.
What the bot says, for every giveaway Settings, What the bot says: the reply when someone enters, the reply when someone cannot enter and the winner's DM, up to 1,500 characters each. Tags: {prize}, {title}, {host}, {link} and {user}, plus {reason} in the reply to someone who cannot enter. A giveaway's own text wins over these, and an empty box uses the bot's own text. A reaction entry gets no reply, and a refusal after a reaction comes by DM.
Set up Giveaways Settings, Setup, the last card: Run setup. It keeps the giveaway channel picked on the page, or uses #giveaways and creates it when there is none. It keeps the role picked under Who can run giveaways from Discord, or looks for one by name. In a channel it has just created it posts a short welcome and tries to pin it. Nothing else changes, and the card says what a run would change before you press it.
Prizes and how many winners New giveaway, step 1, What are you giving away?: "Give away ... to ... winners", then Add a 2nd prize and so on, up to 20 prizes with up to 100 winners each. With first come, first served, the first to click get the 1st prize.
Title and description New giveaway, step 1: the headline (up to 200 characters; left empty, the 1st prize is the headline) and a few words under it (up to 2,000). A running giveaway can still change both.
The channel it is posted in New giveaway, step 2, When and where?: Post it in. A new giveaway starts with the server's giveaway channel. Once the giveaway is posted its channel cannot change.
When it starts and ends New giveaway, step 2: It starts right away or at a set time. It ends after a while (1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days or a length you type, at least 30 seconds) or on a date. Times are in the server's giveaway time zone. A running giveaway can still move its end, as long as it is not in the past.
How people enter New giveaway, step 3, How do people enter?: the way in (Enter button, A reaction, Either one or First come, first served) and the emoji they react with. A new giveaway starts with the server's choice from Settings. Everyone counts once however they enter.
Who can enter New giveaway, step 4, Anything else?: a minimum account age and time in the server, a minimum number of messages over up to 365 days, roles they must all have and roles they must not have. Messages are counted by Analytics, and the rule is skipped while Analytics is off. 0 turns a rule off.
How long past winners wait New giveaway, step 4, inside Who can enter: Past winners sit out. Someone who won a giveaway here in the last number of days sits this one out, up to 365. It starts with the server's starting point from Settings (7 days unless that was changed), and the server's own wait counts when it is longer.
Extra chances for roles and boosters New giveaway, step 4, Extra chances: server boosters and any role you pick get extra chances, up to 100 each. They add up: 2 extra chances from a role and 1 for boosting put a member in the draw 4 times.
Entries for inviting friends New giveaway, step 4, Invite friends: members get their own invite link from a My invite link button on the post. Each friend who joins through it adds the extra chances you set, up to 100. A member can be asked for a number of invited friends to be in the draw, up to 1,000. A friend only counts when their account is old enough, 7 days to start with. The bot needs Create Invite in the giveaway channel and Manage Server.
Things to do for entries New giveaway, step 4, Things to do: what to do, an optional link, Needed to enter and up to 100 extra chances for each. A Tasks button on the post opens the Watch live page, where members sign in with Discord and tick them off, on trust. A giveaway with things to do gets the Watch live page turned on. They carry over to the next round of a repeat, and a template does not keep them.
Prize codes while you build a giveaway New giveaway, step 4, Prize codes: keys, codes or links for each prize, one per line, with a name and a bar in front to label one. They are stored encrypted. After saving, the builder only shows how many are left, and the giveaway's Codes tab lists their names and adds or removes them. Each winner gets the next unused one in their DM, or when they claim if winners have to claim.
Winners must claim their prize New giveaway, step 4, After the draw: Winners have to claim their prize. The DM has a Confirm prize button and they have 1 to 168 hours to press it (24 to start with). If their DMs are closed, the button is posted in the giveaway channel instead. A prize nobody claimed waits under Needs you on Home and Winners until you draw someone else or leave it. Off to start with.
A role for the winners New giveaway, step 4, After the draw: Give winners a role. They get it when they are drawn, or once they claim when winners have to claim. The bot needs Manage Roles, and the role has to sit below the bot's own.
Allow drawing again New giveaway, step 4, After the draw: You can draw again. For 30 minutes after the draw you can replace winners, on the giveaway's page or with /giveaway reroll. People who already won the giveaway are never picked again. With it off, only a prize nobody claimed can still be drawn again. It starts with the server's setting.
The Watch live page New giveaway, step 4, After the draw: Watch live page. A public page for this giveaway that shows people entering and plays the draw when time is up. The post links to it, and it stays up for 3 days after the end. It starts with the server's setting, and things to do turn it on.
Colour, picture and sponsor line New giveaway, step 4, Look: the colour of the bar down the side of the post (the Watch live page uses it too) and a banner picture, one of three built in or an https link. A sponsor line is shown in italics at the end of the post. A running giveaway can still change its look.
What the bot says to people who enter and win New giveaway, step 4, What the bot says: this giveaway's own reply when someone enters or cannot enter, and its own winner's DM. Left empty, it uses the server's reply from Settings, or else the bot's own. A running giveaway can still change them.
Repeat it New giveaway, step 4, Repeat: Never, Every day, Every week or Every month. When this one ends and its winners are drawn, the next one starts with the same prizes and rules and runs 1, 7 or 30 days. Things to do carry over. Prize codes do not. A round that is cancelled ends the repeating, and Stop repeating on the giveaway's page stops it too.
