How to Build and Run a MapleStory Discord Community With YourBot

How to Build and Run a MapleStory Discord Community With YourBot

A MapleStory Discord should be organized around region, world, world type, progression, and the specific boss or activity a party is forming for. MapleStory has a six-player party system, but "six players" is not the first compatibility question. A Kronos player cannot simply join a Bera boss party. A Solis player is not in the same region as Kronos. Heroic and Interactive worlds use different economic and progression rules. Seasonal worlds can exist temporarily and should not be treated like permanent home worlds.

The most common Discord mistake is treating MapleStory like a single-shard MMO where job and level are enough. For Global MapleStory, world identity matters. North American Heroic players are on Kronos or Hyperion; European Heroic players are on Solis. North American Interactive players are on Bera or Scania; European Interactive players are on Luna. Heroic worlds disable normal player trading and the Auction House, while Interactive worlds support player-to-player trade and markets. A good Discord captures that before it asks about job, boss damage, Arcane/Sacred progression, or weekly clears.

This guide builds a fictional 246-member community called Maple Junction. It supports NA and EU players, Heroic and Interactive worlds, new/returning Maplers, weekly bossing, progression help, Guild recruitment, Sixth Job discussion, economy/build help, and event coordination. Its associated in-game Guild is on Kronos, but the Discord is intentionally larger and cross-world. YourBot handles Discord structure, onboarding, moderation, tickets, LFG, events, temporary voice, announcements, feeds, analytics, and giveaways. MapleStory remains authoritative for worlds, characters, Guild membership, boss clears, levels, jobs, equipment, Legion, Hexa progression, Arcane/Sacred Force, trading, inventories, and account state.

Start With the Right MapleStory Community Model

Region and world are real compatibility gates

Current Global MapleStory support describes these permanent worlds:

Heroic

Interactive

Seasonal worlds can also appear for limited events.

That means a serious bossing or Guild listing should state both:

Region: NA
World: Kronos
World Type: Heroic

or:

Region: EU
World: Luna
World Type: Interactive

Do not replace that with only NA or only Heroic. Two players can share a region but still be on different worlds.

MapleStory has some cross-world content, including Party Quests, but ordinary world-based social, Guild, trading, and boss coordination should not be designed around the assumption that all worlds can party freely.

Heroic and Interactive communities need different economy expectations

Heroic worlds focus on self-sufficient progression:

Interactive worlds support:

This affects Discord design.

A Heroic #trade channel makes little sense as a normal item marketplace. A Bera/Scania/Luna community may legitimately want economy and trading discussion. Cross-world price talk should label the world because economies differ.

Party size is up to six, but every boss does not need six

MapleStory's standard party system supports up to six members.

That makes six the correct maximum for a general weekly-boss template, not YourBot's generic five-person fallback. But an organizer may intentionally use:

depending on damage, mechanics, support composition, reward considerations, or learning goals.

Do not force every boss listing to fill six slots.

A playing mentor occupies a real party slot. A non-playing mentor watching a stream or explaining mechanics from Discord does not.

Jobs create party utility, not a rigid Tank/Healer/DPS queue

MapleStory has dozens of jobs with different burst windows, survivability tools, bind/control, party buffs, debuffs, support effects, and damage profiles.

That does not mean every party requires:

MapleStory does not use that universal MMO trinity.

For difficult bosses, organizers may care about:

Make those requirements specific to the boss/run rather than inventing permanent MMO roles.

Progression gates matter more than raw level

Two level-280 characters may be at very different stages of actual readiness.

Useful context can include:

Do not make YourBot "verify" these values. They are member-supplied unless a separate maintained integration is deliberately built later.

Current live state: v.271.3.0 and Frieren collaboration

As of September 25, 2026, Global MapleStory is on the v.271 update line; the September 17 maintenance moved the client to v.271.3.0.

The v.271 content line includes:

The Frieren collaboration and other seasonal events are dated/live-service content. They should be announced and discussed without becoming permanent Discord categories.

The Community We Will Build

Maple Junction is a 246-member Global MapleStory Discord.

YourBot's role in the community

Service Community use
Welcome Verify newcomers and collect region, world, world type, progression, and activity interests.

1. Create the Foundation With Start Your Server

MapleStory has too many jobs, bosses, worlds, events, and progression systems to make a permanent channel for each one.

Use durable channels and let Group Finder templates, forum threads, roles, and events carry the changing details.

Copy-ready community brief

Design a Global MapleStory Discord called Maple Junction.

Community:
- About 250 Discord members.
- Associated in-game Guild is on Kronos Heroic.
- Discord itself supports multiple Global MapleStory worlds.
- Mix of new players, returning players, event/Hyper Burning players, weekly bossers, Sixth Job players, Guild members, and mentors.

Current permanent world model:
Heroic:
- NA: Kronos, Hyperion
- EU: Solis

Interactive:
- NA: Bera, Scania
- EU: Luna

Seasonal worlds:
- Treat as temporary/event-specific.
- Do not hard-code a seasonal world into permanent server architecture unless it becomes permanent.

Compatibility:
- Region + world are required for serious bossing/Guild LFG.
- Heroic and Interactive have different economy/progression rules.
- Heroic does not support normal equipment/meso trading or Auction House.
- Interactive supports eligible trading, Auction House, and Meso Market.
- Standard party maximum is 6.
- Organizer can choose fewer than 6.
- Do not use a generic five-person template.
- Some cross-world content exists, but do not assume all bosses/Guild activities are cross-world.
- Jobs are not Tank/Healer/DPS classes.
- Use boss-specific utility/build requirements when relevant.

Roles:
Owner, Administrator, Moderator, Guild Officer, Event Host, Boss Mentor, Member, New Mapler.
Optional self-select:
Kronos, Hyperion, Solis, Bera, Scania, Luna
Heroic, Interactive
NA, EU
New/Returning, Weekly Bossing, Sixth Job, Progression Help, Guild Interest, Events
Interactive Economy
Optional broad job-family interests if useful, but do not create dozens of required roles by default.
Staff, Guild Officer, and trusted Mentor roles must not be self-selectable.

Channels:
START HERE: welcome, rules, choose-roles, announcements
HENESYS: general, questions, screenshots, builds-and-progression
BOSSING: lfg-listings, lfg-forum, events
GUILD: guild-info, guild-chat
PROGRESSION: sixth-job, boss-learning
ECONOMY: interactive-economy
UPDATES: maplestory-updates
HELP: open-a-ticket
VOICE: join-to-create
STAFF: staff-chat, sentinel-logs, ticket-log

Permissions:
- Interactive economy channel visible to all if desired, but clearly label prices/trades by world.
- Guild-only planning should not become visible merely because someone has a generic Member role.
- Discord Guild roles do not modify the in-game Guild.

Safety:
- Never request Nexon/Steam passwords, email passwords, 2FA codes, recovery codes, PIN/account secrets, session tokens, payment information, or remote-control access.
- Treat hacking/botting tools, account sales, malicious programs, phishing, and scam links as risks.
- Discord moderation is not Nexon game enforcement.
- Do not claim YourBot verifies job, level, boss clear, Arcane/Sacred progression, equipment, Guild membership, or account ownership.

Configure all ten built-in services:
Welcome; Sentinel; Tickets; Group Finder; Beacon Events; Join-to-Create Voice; Announcements; Social Feeds; Analytics; Giveaways.

MapleStory-specific setup:
- MapleStory is not in the currently inspected automatic Group Finder game list.
- Create explicit MapleStory templates manually.
- Weekly Boss Party uses max 6, not the generic 5.
- MapleStory is not in the currently inspected curated Social Feeds catalog.
- Use generic Steam source App ID 216150 for MapleStory publisher announcements.
- Announcements schedules and Social Feed subscriptions require manual finishing steps.
- Keep deletions off for the first build.
- Preserve existing structure.
- Preview New Mapler, Member, Guild Member, Boss Mentor, and Moderator perspectives before applying.

Review before applying

Review Channels, Roles, Services, and permissions before clicking Build.

Preview as:

A New Mapler should see the rules, world-selection guidance, progression help, and public LFG without seeing staff or private Guild-planning channels.

Keep deletions disabled for the first pass. Read the build report and correct skipped permissions before making cleanup changes.

Announcements schedules and Social Feed subscriptions require manual finishing steps.

2. Welcome: World First, Job Second

Welcome should prevent the classic failure:

"Anyone for weekly bosses?"

"What world?"

Collect region/world early.

Useful self-selectable roles:

A member may have characters in multiple worlds, so allow multiple world interests if the community wants that.

Do not make Guild Officer, Boss Mentor, Moderator, or other trusted roles self-selectable.

A short greeting:

Welcome to Maple Junction. Choose your Global MapleStory region and world before using boss LFG. Kronos/Hyperion/Solis are Heroic; Bera/Scania/Luna are Interactive. Heroic and Interactive have different trading/progression rules. Never share Nexon/Steam passwords, 2FA/recovery codes, or account access here.

Test: Join with a test account, select NA, Kronos, Heroic, and Weekly Bossing, then confirm the correct roles appear and no staff/Guild-officer role is granted.

3. Sentinel: Protect a Link-Heavy MMO Community

MapleStory communities commonly share build resources, calculators, videos, spreadsheets, event links, and screenshots.

Sentinel should not blindly block all external links.

Prioritize:

Nexon continues to publish ban data for hacking/botting and advertising. That makes hack/bot sellers a particularly appropriate Discord moderation target.

Use dry-run/logging first for aggressive link rules so legitimate MapleStory resources are not destroyed by overbroad automation.

Discord moderation is not game enforcement.

Test: Use a staff-only dummy phishing-domain pattern, confirm Sentinel logs or blocks it, and verify it does not affect approved links.

4. Tickets: Route Guild, Boss, and Progression Help Privately

Use a small number of focused intake paths.

Guild Application

Boss Learning Request

Private Member Report

Discord / Access Help

Never request account passwords, email passwords, 2FA codes, recovery codes, PIN/account secrets, payment information, or remote desktop access.

Accepting a Guild ticket does not invite the character in-game. Closing a Boss Learning request does not clear a boss or grant a boss entry.

Test: Submit a Guild Application and Member Report using a test account; confirm each reaches the intended staff roles and remains private.

5. Group Finder: Use World-Specific Six-Player Templates

Read-only inspection of YourBot's current develop revision shows MapleStory is not in Group Finder's automatic game-detection list.

The generic setup always creates a Quick Group with a default size of five.

MapleStory's normal party ceiling is six, so create explicit templates.

Create the first template

Template Name: MapleStory Weekly Boss Party
Game: MapleStory
Default Party Size: 6
Default Expiry: 2 hours
Description: World-specific weekly boss party. Require region, world, world type, boss/difficulty, current party size, learning/clear status, job context, and voice preference. Six is the maximum; organizer may choose fewer.

Additional templates

Template Target size Required context
Weekly Boss Party up to 6 Region, world, boss/difficulty, learning/clear, job context
Boss Learning / Practice up to 6 Exact boss, first clear, mechanic help, expected session
Progression Party up to 6 World, level range, objective, quest/content gate
Party Quest activity-specific Region/world rules, exact PQ, level/access
Guild Boss Night up to 6 per party unless content says otherwise Guild/world, exact boss, party assignments
Interactive Economy / Trade Meet not a combat template World, item/economy purpose; Interactive only

Do not use combat Group Finder for Heroic "trading," because normal player trade/Auction House is not available there.

Example live listing

Title: Hard Lucid Learning — need 2
Game: MapleStory
Region: NA
World: Kronos
World Type: Heroic
Boss: Lucid
Difficulty: Hard
Target Size: 6
Current: 4/6
Status: Learning / clear attempt
Jobs Present: Bishop, Night Lord, Hero, Kanna
Need: Any appropriate progression; tell us your job and if this is first clear
Level/Progression: Self-reported; boss access required
Voice: Recommended
Session: ~90 minutes
Notes: Joining this Discord listing does not create the in-game party or verify boss access. Leader confirms roster in Discord, then forms the MapleStory party.

The six-person size is a maximum, not a commandment. A group can intentionally run four or five.

Test: Fill a six-seat weekly boss listing, confirm a seventh member goes to the waitlist, then create a four-person learning run and verify Group Finder does not force it to six.

6. Beacon Events: Schedule Boss Nights Without Pretending One Party Holds Everyone

Beacon is useful when participation is planned rather than spontaneous.

Examples:

A 24-person boss night should be described as several parties.

Example:

Event: Kronos Weekly Boss Night
Region: NA
World: Kronos
World Type: Heroic
Attendance Cap: 24
Structure: Up to 4 parties of 6
Hosts: 4 Party Leads
Focus: Weekly boss progression
Learning: Yes
Voice: One temporary room per party
Waitlist: Enabled
Notes: Exact bosses/party compositions are assigned before start.

A playing mentor occupies one of the six seats in the party they join.

Beacon RSVP does not:

Test: Create a 12-person event explicitly split into two six-player parties, assign two leads, fill it, then verify the waitlist and team-assignment plan.

7. Join-to-Create Voice: Use Six for Boss Parties, More for Teaching

Create a Join to Create — Boss Party lobby with:

Create a second Learning / Event lobby with a higher Discord voice limit for:

A Discord learning room can have ten listeners even though the actual MapleStory party cannot.

Do not create one permanent voice channel for every boss.

Discord voice does not create the in-game party or apply any MapleStory party buff.

Test: Fill a six-user boss room, verify a seventh cannot enter when the limit is active, transfer ownership, and confirm the room deletes when everyone leaves.

8. Announcements: Date Patch, Event, and World Notices

MapleStory is a live-service game with recurring events, maintenance, World Leap periods, seasonal worlds, collaborations, and patch-specific systems.

Use Announcements for:

A current notice could say:

MapleStory — v.271.3.0 Community Notes

LIVE:
- MapleStory x Frieren: Beyond Journey's End content is active in the v.271 update line.
- v.271 includes Geadock Familiar updates, HEXA/Common Node updates, Special Skill Ring changes, Night Troupe: Omega Sector, Night of the Yeti, and Winter Countdown content.
- September 17 maintenance moved the client to v.271.3.0.

LFG reminder:
- Always state Region + World.
- Kronos/Hyperion/Solis are Heroic.
- Bera/Scania/Luna are Interactive.
- Standard party maximum is 6.

Use #maplestory-updates for publisher news and #events for scheduled community activities.

Do not keep temporary Frieren or Night Troupe announcements scheduled after they expire.

Start Your Server can enable Announcements, but schedules are a manual finishing step.

Test: Schedule a staff-only announcement five minutes ahead using one world/event role and verify it posts once without an unintended server-wide ping.

9. Social Feeds: Add MapleStory Through the Generic Steam Source

Read-only inspection of YourBot's current Social Feeds catalog shows no curated MapleStory entry and no 216150 catalog entry.

MapleStory's Steam App ID is:

216150

Create a manual source:

Source: Steam
Steam App ID: 216150
Display Name: MapleStory — Official Steam Announcements
Destination: #maplestory-updates
Ping Role: None by default
Digest: Off or hourly

This is useful because Nexon currently mirrors major MapleStory announcements through Steam, including:

The inspected YourBot Steam source uses:

Do not claim this source mirrors every Nexon support article, forum post, Cash Shop notice, emergency maintenance alert, or website-only event.

Start Your Server can enable Social Feeds, but the actual subscription remains a manual follow-up.

Test: Add App ID 216150, preview the feed in #maplestory-updates, verify formatting, and confirm there is no unintended role ping.

10. Analytics: Measure the Discord, Not Character Strength

Analytics can answer:

Analytics does not know:

Do not convert Discord activity into a "strong player" or "best bosser" score.

If members voluntarily self-report progression elsewhere, that is separate from Analytics.

Test: Generate activity in a public progression channel, one Group Finder listing, and one temporary voice room. Confirm expected analytics appear and private Tickets/staff channels are excluded as intended.

11. Giveaways: Keep Discord Drawings Separate From MapleStory Transfers

Use Giveaways for low-risk community prizes such as:

Do not imply YourBot automatically gives:

Heroic and Interactive worlds have different transfer/trade rules, so never design prize fulfillment around a trade that the winner's world does not permit.

Never request a Nexon password, Steam password, payment detail, PIN/account secret, 2FA code, or recovery code to deliver a prize.

Test: Run a staff-only giveaway for Choose next boss-learning session, verify winner/reroll behavior, then use the same flow for the first public low-risk giveaway.

Keep World Identity on Bossing, Guild, and Economy Workflows

Maple Junction can be socially cross-world while remaining operationally accurate.

Members from Kronos, Bera, and Luna can:

But a boss party, Guild application, or trade discussion usually needs a specific world.

A strong LFG begins with:

NA / Kronos / Heroic

before it gets to:

Hard Lucid / 4 of 6 / learning

An economy post should say Bera or Scania, not simply Interactive, because markets can differ by world.

Treat Heroic and Interactive as Different Progression Cultures

Official Global MapleStory support deliberately describes Heroic and Interactive as distinct world types.

That should influence the Discord without splitting the community unnecessarily.

Heroic-focused help may emphasize:

Interactive-focused help may emphasize:

Do not create fake "trade" workflows for Heroic simply because the Discord has an economy category.

Instead, use the same progression channels with world tags, and reserve #interactive-economy for content that genuinely depends on markets/trading.

Separate Guild Membership From the Discord Community

MapleStory Guilds are in-game organizations. The associated Maple Junction Guild happens to be on Kronos, while the Discord supports multiple worlds.

That means:

A Discord member from Bera can remain an important community member even though they cannot join the Kronos Guild on that character.

If the community later runs multiple Guilds on different worlds, model them as separate Guild units rather than pretending one Discord Guild role applies everywhere.

Make Boss Requirements Session-Specific

MapleStory's progression is too broad for one permanent Endgame Ready badge to stay meaningful forever.

Instead, a boss listing should state the actual expectation:

Avoid forcing every member to publish Combat Power or exact equipment if the organizer does not need it.

A teaching run may care more about mechanic readiness than raw damage. A weekly farm may care about reliable burst timing. The Discord should support both.

Keep v.271 Events Dated

The current v.271 line demonstrates why permanent event channels age badly.

The Frieren collaboration, Night Troupe: Omega Sector, Night of the Yeti, and Winter Countdown are useful current topics. They should live in:

They should not become permanent top-level categories.

When v.272 arrives, the structure stays useful and the dated content is archived.

Add a Boss Readiness Ledger Only When You Need It

Maple Junction can launch entirely with built-ins.

Group Finder handles today's boss group. Beacon handles scheduled attendance. Tickets handle private coaching/Guild applications. Announcements handle patch/event communication.

A custom plugin becomes useful if mentors repeatedly ask:

Which characters in this world say they are ready for this boss, and what progression changed since the last review?

Before building, check the Marketplace for a maintained solution. If none fits, create Boss Readiness Ledger.

Review the generated plan, source, manifest, capability requests, storage, commands, and dashboard authorization before building.

Test as:

Test direct record access, cross-server isolation, archives, and any export feature.

Continue development in Visual Studio Code with the current YourBot SDK workflow:

Marketplace publication is optional.

Passing validation does not prove that the boss-readiness model or permission design is correct.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the current Global MapleStory permanent worlds?

Current official support lists Heroic: Kronos and Hyperion in North America, Solis in Europe. Interactive: Bera and Scania in North America, Luna in Europe.

Can Kronos and Bera players boss together?

Do not design ordinary boss LFG around that assumption. They are different worlds with different world types. Some MapleStory content supports cross-world grouping, but normal Guild/economy/world-based coordination should remain world-specific unless the exact content explicitly supports cross-world play.

What is MapleStory's normal party maximum?

Six members.

Does YourBot automatically detect MapleStory in Group Finder?

Not in the read-only develop revision inspected for this guide. Create explicit MapleStory templates manually.

Is MapleStory in YourBot's curated Social Feeds catalog?

Not in the inspected catalog. Add MapleStory manually with the generic Steam source and App ID 216150.

Can YourBot read my level, job, HEXA progress, equipment, boss clears, or Guild membership?

Not through the built-in services. The optional Boss Readiness Ledger is deliberately self-reported in version 1.

Should Heroic worlds have trade channels?

Heroic worlds do not support normal equipment/meso player trading or Auction House. Discussion is fine, but do not present a Heroic trade workflow as if it works like Bera/Scania/Luna.

Is the Frieren collaboration permanent?

No. It is current v.271 live-service/collaboration content and should be handled as dated event material rather than permanent Discord architecture.

Build the Discord Around World Compatibility and Real Progression

MapleStory already has the game-side systems for characters, worlds, Guilds, boss parties, progression, markets, and events. A useful Discord makes those systems easier to coordinate without pretending to replace them.

Start Your Server establishes the stable foundation. Welcome identifies world and region before members waste time forming incompatible groups. Sentinel protects a resource-heavy MMO community from phishing and hack/tool sellers. Group Finder uses the actual six-player ceiling and world-specific templates. Beacon turns large community attendance into real parties. Temporary voice creates boss rooms without leaving dead channels. Announcements and Social Feeds keep v.271 and future updates current without turning temporary collaborations into permanent architecture.

MapleStory remains authoritative for world membership, Guild state, job/level, equipment, boss access, weekly clears, Sixth Job/HEXA progression, Arcane/Sacred progression, trading, inventories, and rewards.

Use Start Your Server to establish or refine the Discord foundation. Add Plugin Builder only when a persistent workflow such as boss-readiness tracking becomes a recurring problem that the built-in services do not already solve.
