The Elder Scrolls Online is a megaserver MMO, so the most important Discord compatibility question is not simply "NA or EU?" It is platform family plus megaserver. PC and Mac players share the PC/Mac environment. Xbox has its own North American and European megaservers. PlayStation has its own North American and European megaservers. Those environments do not currently cross-play with one another.
After that first split, ESO becomes a game of very different group sizes and social systems. Group Dungeons are four-player content. Trials are twelve-player content. Infinite Archive can be run solo or with one ally. Cyrodiil groups are capped at twelve. Battlegrounds currently use two-sided 4v4 and 8v8 formats, but the in-game queue does not turn every Discord group into a full eight-player premade. Player Guilds can hold up to 500 members, and one account can belong to up to five player Guilds.
That means a useful ESO Discord needs more than one #lfg channel and one generic five-player template.
This guide builds a fictional 258-member community called Silver Road Fellowship. Its primary in-game Guild is on PC/Mac North America, with 184 Guild members, but the Discord also supports ESO players on PC/Mac EU, Xbox NA/EU, and PlayStation NA/EU for public learning, social play, crafting, housing, PvP, and event coordination. YourBot handles the Discord-side foundation. ESO remains authoritative for characters, platform/megaserver, Guild membership, Champion Points, class/subclass skill lines, Group Finder, dungeon/trial lockouts, PvP campaigns, inventory, crafting, housing, and rewards.
Start With the Right Elder Scrolls Online Community Model
Platform plus megaserver is the first compatibility gate
ESO currently uses separate megaserver environments for:
- PC/Mac North America
- PC/Mac Europe
- Xbox North America
- Xbox Europe
- PlayStation North America
- PlayStation Europe
PC and Mac players can play together.
Xbox players play with Xbox players on the selected Xbox megaserver.
PlayStation players play with PlayStation players on the selected PlayStation megaserver.
ESO currently does not let PC/Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation players join one another in the live game.
Characters and progression are also not shared between those platform environments.
A serious LFG should therefore begin with something like:
Platform: PC/Mac
Megaserver: North America
before it asks for class, role, Champion Points, or content.
Do not create one @NA role and assume that is enough.
Dungeons are four players
ESO's official group-content documentation describes Group Dungeons as content designed for a full group of four.
A conventional dungeon roster is:
- Tank
- Healer
- Damage
- Damage
ESO's build flexibility means experienced groups can deviate from that, but it is the correct planning default.
That makes a four-player dungeon template far better than YourBot's generic five-person Quick Group.
Trials are twelve players
Trials are ESO's larger raid content and are designed for groups of 12 players.
Normal, Veteran, and Hard Mode expectations can differ substantially.
A useful Trial listing should therefore include:
- Trial
- Normal / Veteran
- Hard Mode yes/no
- progression / learning / clear / scorepush
- Tank count
- Healer count
- DPS count
- Champion Point expectation if the community uses one
- voice requirement
- specific mechanic/role needs
Do not use twelve for every PvE activity simply because Trials exist.
Infinite Archive is solo or duo
Infinite Archive is designed for:
- solo play
- or one player plus one ally
That gives ESO another important real group size: 2.
A Discord that has only 4-player and 12-player templates misses one of the game's major evergreen activities.
Cyrodiil groups are twelve players
Bethesda support currently states that Cyrodiil groups are limited to 12 players, and ally-targeted abilities are constrained around that group.
The full Cyrodiil campaign contains far more players than one group. Vengeance, which became a permanent 30-day campaign with Update 50, is explicitly built for much larger campaign populations.
So:
Cyrodiil event attendance: 36
can be valid if the event means:
3 groups of 12
It does not mean one 36-player in-game group.
Battlegrounds use 4v4 and 8v8, but premade rules are separate
ESO's current Battlegrounds ecosystem uses two-sided formats:
- 4v4 competitive
- 8v8 larger/casual-oriented
The in-game queue has its own rules about solo and grouped participation. Do not build a Discord template that promises an eight-person premade will enter together unless the current queue explicitly allows that arrangement.
For Discord, use:
- 4-person competitive Battleground group
- Battleground event/session for larger community attendance
and let ESO's live queue decide actual match placement.
Player Guilds and Discord communities are not the same thing
ESO lets an account join up to five player Guilds.
A player Guild can hold up to 500 members.
Guild Banks unlock at 10 members; Guild Stores unlock at 50.
Silver Road Fellowship's Discord has 258 members while the associated PC/Mac NA Guild has 184.
The Discord also includes:
- applicants
- friends
- housing enthusiasts
- PvP guests
- members of other Guilds
- console players
- EU players
- crafters/traders
- event guests
A Discord Guild Member role does not join the ESO Guild.
A Discord Guild Officer role does not grant in-game Guild rank or bank access.
Class matters less than role after Subclassing
ESO's classes include:
- Dragonknight
- Sorcerer
- Nightblade
- Templar
- Warden
- Necromancer
- Arcanist
But current ESO also has Subclassing, which allows characters to train class skill lines outside their original class, and Update 50 added Class Mastery.
That means a base-class role tells you less about endgame function than it used to.
For Discord LFG, prioritize:
- Tank
- Healer
- DPS
- PvP
- support/utility notes
- encounter-specific requirements
over forcing every member into one permanent class identity.

Confirm that a PlayStation EU member does not accidentally receive PC/Mac NA Guild-only access.
Keep deletion disabled on the first build.
Announcements schedules and Social Feed subscriptions require manual finishing steps.
2. Welcome: Use Platform/Megaserver Before Role
Welcome should collect:
- platform family
- megaserver
- activity interests
- combat role
- Guild interest
Useful roles:
- PC/Mac NA
- PC/Mac EU
- Xbox NA
- Xbox EU
- PlayStation NA
- PlayStation EU
- Tank
- Healer
- DPS
- Dungeons
- Trials
- Infinite Archive
- Cyrodiil
- Battlegrounds
- Imperial City
- Crafting
- Housing
- Guild Interest
- New / Returning
Base-class roles should be optional.
Subclassing makes role-first organization more useful than assuming a Dragonknight is always a Tank or a Templar is always a Healer.
A concise greeting:
Welcome to Silver Road Fellowship. Choose your platform/megaserver before using LFG: PC/Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation are separate live environments, each with NA/EU megaservers. Dungeons use four players, Trials use twelve, and Infinite Archive is solo/duo. Discord roles never change your ESO Guild or character.
Test: Join with a test account, select Xbox NA, Healer, and Trials, then confirm no PC/Mac Guild-only access appears.
3. Sentinel: Protect Accounts, Addon Links, and Trade/Guild Communities
ESO communities regularly share:
- build sites
- addon links
- crafting resources
- housing links/screenshots
- guild-trader discussions
- Discord invites
- official ZeniMax pages
Focus Sentinel on:
- phishing
- fake ESO/Bethesda logins
- account sales
- scam Crown/gold services
- malicious executable "addons"
- impersonation
- doxxing
- harassment
- spam
- invite raids
- suspicious URL shorteners
PC/Mac addons are normally distributed as game addons—not random executable installers.
Do not automatically punish discussion of addons or trading.
Use report/dry-run mode for aggressive rules first.
Discord moderation is not ESO enforcement.
Test: Post a controlled dummy phishing link in a staff-only channel and confirm the correct rule logs or blocks it.
4. Tickets: Guild Applications, Trial Coaching, and Private Problems
Use separate ticket paths.
Guild Application
Ask for:
- Discord display name
- ESO UserID / display name if the member chooses to provide it
- platform/megaserver
- primary role
- favorite activities
- usual play time
- Guild goals
- acknowledgment that Discord approval does not join the in-game Guild
Trial Learning Request
Ask for:
- platform/megaserver
- Trial
- Normal / Veteran / Hard Mode
- role
- class/subclass notes
- Champion Point estimate
- first clear / learning / progression
- voice availability
- preferred time
Crafting / Housing Help
Ask for:
- platform/megaserver
- crafting need / set / trait / furnishing / housing issue
- material situation if relevant
- deadline
Private Report
Ask for:
- Discord user
- message link
- screenshot
- harassment/phishing/scam context
Never request passwords, 2FA codes, recovery codes, payment details, or account-control access.
Test: Submit a PC/Mac NA Guild Application and an Xbox EU Trial Learning request. Confirm they route to the intended staff/mentor teams.
5. Group Finder: ESO Is Detected, but the Default Template Is Wrong
Read-only inspection of YourBot's current develop revision shows:
esomaps toESOelder scrollsmaps toESO- there is no ESO-specific starter-template branch
- the generic
Quick Groupis still always created - generic Quick Group defaults to 5
So Group Finder can recognize ESO, but its starter template is not ESO-correct.
Create the first template
Template Name: ESO — Group Dungeon
Game: The Elder Scrolls Online
Default Party Size: 4
Default Expiry: 2 hours
Description: Four-player dungeon template. Require platform/megaserver, dungeon, Normal/Veteran/Hard Mode, Tank/Healer/DPS slots, learner/reclear status, and voice.
Additional templates
| Template | Target size | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Infinite Archive Duo | 2 | Platform/megaserver, Arc/goal, solo/duo, voice |
| Group Dungeon | 4 | Dungeon, difficulty, 1 Tank / 1 Healer / 2 DPS default |
| Arena / 4-Player PvE | 4 | Arena/content, difficulty, role mix |
| Trial | 12 | Trial, Normal/Vet/HM, tanks/healers/DPS, learner/reclear |
| Cyrodiil Group | 12 | Platform/megaserver, campaign, alliance, goal, voice |
| Battleground Premade | 4 | Platform/megaserver, queue type, PvP experience |
| Open-World / Event Zone | organizer-defined | Exact content, current activity rules |
Dungeon example
Title: Vet Dungeon — Learning
Game: The Elder Scrolls Online
Platform/Megaserver: PC/Mac NA
Target Size: 4
Current: 3/4
Difficulty: Veteran
Roles:
- Tank: filled
- Healer: filled
- DPS: 1/2
Status: Learning
Voice: Optional
Notes:
- Joining this Discord listing does not create the in-game group.
- CP/build information is self-reported.
Trial example
Title: Veteran Trial — Progression
Platform/Megaserver: PC/Mac NA
Target Size: 12
Tanks: 2
Healers: 2
DPS: 8
Status: Progression
Voice: Required
Actual optimized Trial compositions can differ, so treat the slot counts as community planning rather than a hard game rule.
Cyrodiil example
Title: Vengeance Campaign Night
Platform/Megaserver: Xbox NA
Alliance: Ebonheart Pact
Target Size: 12
Goal: Keep defense / AP / coordinated group
Voice: Required
Test: Fill a dungeon to four and confirm the fifth goes to waitlist. Then fill a Trial to twelve and confirm the thirteenth waits.
6. Beacon Events: Trials, Multi-Group PvP, Housing, and Guild Nights
Beacon is better for scheduled attendance.
Twelve-player Trial
Event: Veteran Trial Learning
Platform/Megaserver: PC/Mac NA
Capacity: 12
Roles:
- 2 Tank
- 2 Healer
- 8 DPS
Learning: Yes
Voice: Required
Waitlist: Enabled
Cyrodiil guild night
Event: Vengeance Campaign Guild Night
Platform/Megaserver: PC/Mac NA
Attendance Goal: 36
Structure:
- Group A: 12
- Group B: 12
- Group C: 12
Alliance: Aldmeri Dominion
Voice:
- command/staging
- group subrooms if needed
ESO's campaign population is much larger, but each organized group remains twelve.
Housing tour
Event: Housing Showcase Night
Platform/Megaserver: PlayStation EU
Attendance: 20
Format: rotate through member homes
Voice: Social
This is a Discord event, not a Trial-sized party.
Beacon RSVP does not:
- create the ESO group
- reserve dungeon/trial entry
- change campaign
- join a Guild
- guarantee a housing instance
- grant achievement/loot
Test: Create a 24-person Cyrodiil event as two groups of twelve and verify the event text never describes it as one 24-player combat group.
7. Join-to-Create Voice: 2, 4, 12, and Staging
Create:
Join Duo
- limit 2
- Infinite Archive
Join Dungeon
- limit 4
Join Trial
- limit 12
PvP Staging
- larger Discord limit
- use for multi-group Cyrodiil organization
Battleground voice should use a size that matches the actual premade being queued, not the entire 8v8 match unless the live queue supports the whole group entering together.
Enable:
- delete when empty
- creator ownership
- transfer ownership
Test: Fill a four-person Dungeon room and confirm the fifth cannot enter. Then test a twelve-person Trial room separately.
8. Announcements: Separate Live Season One From Update 51
Announcements should clearly label LIVE and UPCOMING.
Current example:
ESO — September 25, 2026
LIVE:
- Season One: Return of the Thieves Guild
- Thieves Guild storyline
- Favors
- Dynamic Encounters
- Sheogorath storyline
- Update 50
- Challenge Difficulty
- PvP Veterancy
- Class Mastery
- Vengeance Cyrodiil campaign
UPCOMING:
- Update 51: Sep 28
- Nowhere Vault: Sep 28
- Rumors: Sep 28
- High Seas of Tamriel: Sep 30
GROUP SIZES:
- Infinite Archive: 1-2
- Dungeon: 4
- Trial: 12
- Cyrodiil group: 12
Do not say Nowhere Vault is live before September 28.
Use opt-in roles:
@Trials@PvP@Events@Season One@Update 51
Start Your Server can enable Announcements, but schedules are manual follow-up.
Test: Schedule an Update 51 reminder five minutes ahead using only @Update 51, then verify it posts once.
9. Social Feeds: Use the Existing Curated ESO Entry
Read-only inspection of:
mmo_maid/plugins/social/game_catalog.py
shows:
Slug: eso
Name: Elder Scrolls Online
Source: steam_news
Steam App ID: 306130
Category: MMO
Use that catalog entry and send it to #eso-updates.
The inspected Steam source uses:
- public ISteamNews
- publisher community announcements
- numeric App ID
- 900-second default interval
This is useful for publisher updates and major announcements.
Do not claim it mirrors:
- every support article
- every server-status alert
- every forum developer reply
- every Crown Store post
- every console-specific emergency
The official ESO website and support/service pages remain authoritative.
Test: Add the curated ESO entry, preview it in #eso-updates, and confirm no unwanted role ping.
10. Analytics: Measure the Discord, Not Champion Points
Analytics can answer:
- which platform/megaserver roles are active
- whether new members finish onboarding
- whether dungeon/trial groups fill
- whether learning events retain members
- whether PvP nights work
- whether Guild recruiting generates active members
- whether crafting/housing channels are healthy
Analytics does not know:
- Champion Points
- class/subclass build
- DPS parse
- gear
- sets
- traits
- achievements
- dungeon/trial clears
- crafting research
- Guild memberships
- Guild bank/store state
- Alliance Points
- PvP rank
- housing ownership
Do not turn message count into a raider-skill or officer-performance score.
Test: Generate activity in public channels, one LFG, and temporary voice. Confirm private Tickets/staff areas are excluded where intended.
11. Giveaways: Keep Discord Drawings Separate From ESO Commerce
Safe prizes:
- choose next Trial learning night
- choose next housing theme
- temporary Discord cosmetic role
- community art
- legitimate game/store code when staff understands redemption
Do not imply YourBot automatically grants:
- Crowns
- ESO Plus
- Gold
- motifs
- gear
- Crown Crates
- houses
- Guild bank access
- Guild trader access
Never request account credentials or payment information.
Test: Run a staff-only giveaway for Choose next housing-tour theme, verify winner/reroll behavior, then use a similarly safe public prize.
Keep Platform and Megaserver Together
This is the single most important operational label in an ESO Discord.
Use:
PC/Mac NA
Xbox EU
PlayStation NA
not:
NA
A PC/Mac NA player and a PlayStation NA player are not in one live game environment.
Likewise, a PC/Mac NA character cannot simply join a PC/Mac EU Guild because the character lives on the selected megaserver.
Public discussion can stay unified.
LFG must stay platform/megaserver-specific.
Separate 2-, 4-, and 12-Player Content Visually
Make the size obvious before members open the listing.
For example:
[2] Infinite Archive
[4] Dungeon
[12] Trial
[12] Cyrodiil Group
[4] BG Premade
This is especially useful because ESO's own Group Finder supports several categories and roles, and the Discord should complement it rather than obscure the activity size.
Do not build one permanent channel per Trial.
Use templates/forum tags.
Guilds Need Their Own Discord Permission Model
ESO player Guilds can hold up to 500 members, and one account may belong to five.
That means one Discord may represent:
- one primary Guild
- several sister Guilds
- trading Guilds
- PvP Guilds
- social Guilds
- public community members
Keep Community Member and Guild Member separate.
Suggested restricted roles:
- Guild Member
- Guild Officer
- Trial Lead
- Guild Crafter
- Recruitment
- Trader Officer
But only create roles that change Discord permissions or notifications.
Do not mirror every in-game Guild rank.
A member can leave the ESO Guild and remain a community member.
Use Role First, Base Class Second
Subclassing means a base class no longer tells the full story.
A member can have:
- multiple characters
- multiple group roles
- subclassed skill lines
- different PvE and PvP builds
So onboarding should ask:
What do you want to do?
before:
What class are you?
Group Finder should ask:
- Tank?
- Healer?
- DPS?
- PvP role?
- mechanic assignment?
rather than assuming class fantasy.
Add a Tamriel Roster & Trial Readiness Ledger Only When You Need It
Silver Road Fellowship can launch entirely with built-ins.
Group Finder handles today's run. Beacon handles scheduled attendance. Tickets handle Guild/learning requests. Announcements handle current content.
A custom plugin becomes useful if Trial Leads repeatedly ask:
Which characters on PC/Mac NA do our members say they have ready, what role can they fill, and which Trials have they cleared or are learning?
Before building, check the Marketplace for a maintained solution. If none fits, create Tamriel Roster & Trial Readiness Ledger.
Copy-ready Plugin Builder specification

Run a Complete First-Week Member Journey
| Scenario | Successful result |
|---|---|
| New Xbox EU member joins | Selects Xbox EU and activity roles without seeing PC/Mac Guild-only areas. |
| Infinite Archive duo | Listing caps at 2. |
| Dungeon | Listing caps at 4 and uses Tank/Healer/DPS planning. |
| Trial | Listing caps at 12 and a 13th player waits. |
| Cyrodiil night | 24 attendees are described as two 12-player groups. |
| Guild application | Ticket remains PC/Mac NA-specific and acceptance does not join the in-game Guild. |
| Battleground group | Discord group size matches current premade intent without claiming to control the 8v8 match. |
| Update 51 announcement | Clearly says Sep 28 upcoming, not live Sep 25. |
| Readiness ledger | Member updates self-reported profiles; lead-only notes disappear after role revocation. |
Fix platform/megaserver and content-size confusion before adding more automation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players play ESO together?
No. PC/Mac players share one platform environment, while Xbox and PlayStation each have their own separate environments. Each platform has North American and European megaservers.
Can I play on both NA and EU?
Yes, each platform can select either North America or Europe. Characters remain on the megaserver where they were created.
How many players are in ESO dungeons?
Group Dungeons are designed for four players.
How many players are in Trials?
Trials are designed for twelve players.
How many players can be in a Cyrodiil group?
Current support documentation limits Cyrodiil groups to twelve players.
How many player Guilds can I join?
An ESO account can belong to up to five player Guilds. Each Guild can hold up to 500 members.
Does YourBot automatically detect ESO?
Yes. The inspected Group Finder recognizes eso and elder scrolls. But there is no ESO-specific starter-template branch, so the generic five-person template should be replaced.
Is ESO already in YourBot Social Feeds?
Yes. The inspected catalog contains Elder Scrolls Online using Steam App ID 306130.
Is Update 51 live?
Not as of September 25, 2026. It is scheduled for September 28. High Seas of Tamriel begins September 30.
Can YourBot read CP, gear, DPS, Guild rank, or Trial clears?
Not through the built-in services. The optional Tamriel Roster & Trial Readiness Ledger is deliberately self-reported in version 1.
Build the Discord Around Platform, Megaserver, and Real Group Size
ESO already has strong in-game systems for Group Finder, Guilds, Trials, Dungeons, PvP, crafting, housing, and social play. The Discord should make those systems easier to organize without pretending to replace them.
Start Your Server creates the stable structure. Welcome makes platform/megaserver explicit. Sentinel protects account/trade/addon discussion. Tickets route Guild and learning workflows privately. Group Finder replaces the wrong five-person starter with real 2-, 4-, and 12-player templates. Beacon handles full Trials and multi-group Cyrodiil events. Temporary voice mirrors the actual content size. Announcements separate live Season One content from September 28/30 releases. Social Feeds uses the existing curated ESO source.
ESO remains authoritative for characters, Guilds, group state, megaserver, Champion Points, gear, class/subclass, PvP campaigns, achievements, inventory, crafting, housing, and rewards.
Use Start Your Server to establish or refine the Discord foundation. Add Plugin Builder only when a persistent workflow such as multi-character Trial readiness becomes a real recurring need the built-in services do not already solve.
