LFG Tool alternative: YourBot vs LFG Tool

LFG Tool is built around voice. A member types a message in the LFG channel while sitting in a voice channel, and the bot turns it into a post linked to that channel, so others join with one click and nobody makes an invite by hand. It also makes dynamic voice channels, with an overflow system that adds channels as a busy server needs them, sorts voice channels and keeps voice activity logs. The owner of a voice channel moderates it from a panel: kick, ban, lock or unlock, a user limit and claiming the channel. It is set up with /setlfg and /vcsetup, and it is free to use.

YourBot is one bot whose features are services. Ten are built in and run free on every server, and two of them cover LFG Tool's ground: Group Finder for the groups and Voice Channels for rooms members make by joining a channel. The other eight include Sentinel moderation and Tickets. Premium, billed per server, adds a bot under your own name, the open marketplace and the Plugin Builder.

The short version

• Pick LFG Tool if your groups form in voice and you want a post that takes people straight into the channel, set up in two commands.
• Pick YourBot if you want to post groups from a form or a quick start, with moderation, tickets and the other services in the same bot.
• If you run both for a while, keep one LFG channel for each, so a member never posts the same group twice.

Posting a group

In LFG Tool the post comes from a message typed while in voice, and it links that voice channel. In Group Finder a member posts with /group create, a quick start such as raid or dungeon, or New group on the dashboard with a live preview, choosing the game, a size from 2 to 40, roles, region, platform, voice and a start time up to 14 days out. Others join with Join and Leave buttons or a menu of roles, in Discord or on the group's own web page, and a full group takes a waiting list. When a group that needs voice fills, the bot makes a voice channel sized to it.

Voice rooms

LFG Tool's dynamic voice channels grow with an overflow system, and their owners kick, ban, lock, set a limit or claim a channel from a panel. Voice Channels makes a room when a member joins a lobby, with several lobbies side by side, and its owner can lock, hide, set a limit, rename, permit or reject a member or a role, kick one person or hand the room over, from a panel or with /voice. When the owner leaves, the room passes to the first member still inside unless you turn that off.

Switching

Run /group setup for Group Finder's channel, forum and starter templates, and make a Voice Channels lobby for rooms. Move your LFG channel to Group Finder once LFG Tool's posts there have ended.
