VoiceMaster alternative: YourBot vs VoiceMaster

VoiceMaster is a bot for temporary voice channels, or Join to Create, and the most used of its kind by published server counts. A member joins a channel and VoiceMaster makes them a voice room that it deletes when it is empty. Owners rename it, set a limit, lock it and permit or reject people from a panel inside the voice channel or with /voice commands, and a member can claim a room once its owner has left. Admins set it up on its web dashboard, choose which /voice commands work and can send logs of rooms and command use to a channel. A personal profile carries a member's room settings to every server that runs VoiceMaster, after a top.gg vote. VoiceMaster is free, and Premium removes the vote requirement and the cap on Join to Create channels and adds commands such as ghost, text and transfer.

YourBot is one bot whose features are services. Ten are built in and run free on every server, and Voice Channels is the one that covers VoiceMaster's ground. The other nine include Sentinel moderation, Tickets and Welcome. Premium, billed per server, adds a bot under your own name, the open marketplace and the Plugin Builder.

The short version

• Pick VoiceMaster if you want a room status, invite links, Looking for Members posts and a linked text channel, or a profile that follows members between servers.
• Pick YourBot if you want hiding, transfer and several join channels without a paid plan, with moderation, tickets and the other services in the same bot.
• If you run both for a while, give each its own join channel, so a member never gets two rooms.

Making rooms

VoiceMaster offers several setup styles, with name variables, random name pools and numbered rooms on its Premium setups, and Premium lifts the cap on Join to Create channels. Voice Channels runs several lobbies side by side, each with its own room name, people limit, sound quality and category. A room name can use the owner's display name or username, the room's number in its lobby or the game the owner is playing.

Running a room

Both bots give the owner a panel and /voice commands. VoiceMaster's panel sits inside the voice channel as dropdown menus, and ghost to hide a room and transfer are Premium commands. Voice Channels sends the panel to the owner by DM and can post it in the room's own chat, and every button is also a /voice command: lock, hide, set a limit, rename, permit or reject a member or a role, kick one person or hand the room over. Permits and rejects are remembered for the owner's next rooms, and /voice prefs saves a preferred name and limit. When an owner leaves, the room passes to the first member still inside unless you turn that off.

What admins control

VoiceMaster switches each /voice feature on or off for the server, with role toggles on Premium, and its logs show room and command activity in a channel. Voice Channels limits every command and button to roles or channels or gives it a cooldown, and anyone with Manage Channels can use every owner control on any room. Its dashboard lists every open room with controls of its own and keeps a history of closed rooms; it posts no log to a channel.

Switching

Make a Voice Channels lobby next to VoiceMaster's join channel and let members try it, then remove VoiceMaster's channel once its rooms have emptied. Set each lobby's room name and limit on the dashboard, and members can save their own with /voice prefs.
