TempVoice is a bot for temporary voice channels: a member joins a Creator Channel and TempVoice makes them a channel that it deletes as soon as it is empty. Each Creator Channel is set up on its own in its web dashboard. Owners manage their channel from an interface of buttons, /voice commands or Apps commands: they lock or hide it, trust people in, block them, kick them at once or by a vote, open a waiting room and claim or transfer a channel. Admins decide which owner features are open to everyone, to chosen roles or to nobody, an owner's settings can come back on their next channel and a Temporary Voice Role can mark everyone in a channel. TempVoice is free, and some commands open for a while after a top.gg vote. Premium removes voting and adds unlimited Creator Channels, custom interfaces and a moderation log, and a Your Own Branding plan runs a copy of the bot under your own name.

YourBot is one bot whose features are services. Ten are built in and run free on every server, and Voice Channels is the one that covers TempVoice's ground. The other nine include Sentinel moderation, Tickets and Welcome. Premium, billed per server, adds a bot under your own name, the open marketplace and the Plugin Builder.

The short version

  • Pick TempVoice if you want waiting rooms, vote kicks or a role for everyone in a channel.
  • Pick YourBot if you want claim, transfer and several join channels without a vote or a paid plan, with moderation, tickets and the other services in the same bot.
  • If you run both for a while, give each its own join channel, so a member never gets two rooms.

Making rooms

TempVoice sets up each Creator Channel on its own, with placeholders such as the owner's name, a number or a random word in channel names; names from the game being played need the Your Own Branding plan, and Premium lifts the cap on Creator Channels. Voice Channels runs several lobbies side by side, each with its own room name, people limit, sound quality and category, and a room name can take the game its owner is playing.

Running a room

Both bots give owners buttons and /voice commands to lock or hide a room, let people in, keep them out and kick them. TempVoice adds vote kicks and a waiting room where the owner accepts or denies requests to join; claim, transfer, the waiting room and a temporary thread open after a top.gg vote or with Premium. Voice Channels sends the panel to the owner by DM and can post it in the room's own chat. Permits and rejects can name a member or a role and are remembered for the owner's next rooms, and when an owner leaves, the room passes to the first member still inside unless you turn that off. It has no waiting room or vote kick.

What admins control

Both let admins decide what room owners may do. TempVoice sets each feature open to everyone, to chosen roles or to nobody, and its Ownerless Mode turns owner control off. Voice Channels limits each command and button to roles or channels or gives it a cooldown. TempVoice can bring back an owner's name, limit, trusted and blocked users and privacy on their next channel, with admins choosing what carries over; in Voice Channels members save a name, limit and start state with /voice prefs, and permits and rejects carry over on their own. TempVoice's moderation log, on Premium, posts channel actions to a text channel. Voice Channels keeps a history of closed rooms on its dashboard, next to every open room with controls of its own.

Switching

Make a Voice Channels lobby next to TempVoice's Creator Channel and let members try it, then remove the Creator Channel once its rooms have emptied. Set each lobby's room name and limit on the dashboard, and members can save their own with /voice prefs. Pricing has the current terms, and the temp voice bots table sets Voice Channels beside VoiceMaster, TempVoice and Astro.

Frequently asked questions

Is TempVoice free?

Yes. Some of its commands open for a while after a top.gg vote, and Premium removes voting and adds unlimited Creator Channels, custom interfaces and a moderation log.

Does YourBot have vote kicks or waiting rooms?

No. An owner kicks one person at a time and keeps people out with reject, or by locking or hiding the room. TempVoice offers both.

Can I keep TempVoice and use YourBot for other things?

Yes. YourBot's services turn on one at a time, so you can leave Voice Channels off and run moderation, tickets or the other services beside TempVoice.
