Updated September 2026
The official current game name is Overwatch. Blizzard dropped the “2” in February 2026 when it launched the Reign of Talon era and reset the seasonal numbering back to Season 1. Older URLs, articles, app identifiers, and community sites may still say Overwatch 2, but Blizzard’s current website, patch notes, Steam listing, and live-season branding use Overwatch.
That naming change is worth getting right before you build a Discord.
A modern Overwatch community may simultaneously support:
- 5v5 Role Queue,
- 6v6 Open Queue,
- Quick Play,
- Competitive,
- Stadium,
- Arcade,
- Mystery Heroes,
- custom games,
- coaching,
- team scrims,
- community tournaments,
- OWCS watch parties.
Those modes do not all use the same format.
A Discord that simply creates #lfg and three hero-role channels will work at first, but it becomes harder to use as soon as one member wants a 5v5 Competitive team, another wants 6v6 Open Queue, and another is looking for a Stadium group.
YourBot can build the permanent structure with Start Your Server, then handle the recurring Discord workflows through its ten built-in services.
Editorial disclosure: This guide is published by YourBot.gg. Overwatch facts are based on current Blizzard Entertainment and Steam documentation. YourBot-specific behavior is based on current product behavior and read-only repository review. Overwatch changes frequently, so queue formats, competitive rules, Hero balance, Stadium systems, seasonal events, and esports schedules should be rechecked after major updates.
First: It Is Overwatch, Not Overwatch 2
For a current 2026 article, Discord, or SEO title, use Overwatch.
Blizzard’s February 2026 Reign of Talon launch effectively reset the game’s presentation:
- Season 21 became the new Season 1.
- Blizzard dropped the “2” from the title.
- The official website now brands the game as Overwatch.
- Current patch notes say Overwatch Retail Patch Notes.
- Steam’s current product title is Overwatch.
The Steam App ID remains 2357570, and old Steam URLs may still contain Overwatch_2.
That is a legacy URL detail, not the current product name.
For community-facing content:
- Overwatch = current game.
- Overwatch 2 = former branding / historical reference.
- Overwatch 1 = original pre-2022 game when historical distinction matters.
Current Overwatch Context in September 2026
As of publication:
- Reign of Talon – Season 4: Heroes of Busan is current.
- Season 4 launched August 11, 2026.
- D.Mon joined the Tank roster.
- Busan, Paraíso, and Eichenwalde received major map updates.
- Team Drives and a revised Battle Pass are active parts of the current season.
- The September 8 balance patch made additional Hero adjustments.
- Competitive uses the newer Challenger leaderboard system rather than the old Top 500 model.
- 5v5 Role Queue remains the most-used standard format.
- 6v6 Open Queue remains supported and has a substantial audience.
- Stadium remains supported, including Ranked and Unranked variants.
Blizzard’s own June 28 usage data showed:
- Unranked Role Queue 5v5 at roughly 54% of daily players,
- Ranked Role Queue 5v5 at roughly 37%,
- Unranked Open Queue 6v6 at roughly 19%,
- Ranked Open Queue 6v6 at roughly 8%,
- Unranked Mystery Heroes 6v6 at roughly 4%,
- Stadium Ranked and Unranked each around 3%.
Players can appear in more than one category, so those percentages do not represent exclusive populations.
The important Discord lesson is simpler:
5v5 and 6v6 both matter.
Do not build the entire community as though only one format exists.
The Three Permanent Hero Roles
Overwatch has three stable Hero roles:
- Tank
- Damage
- Support
These are the right permanent Discord interest roles.
Do not create one permanent role for every Hero unless the community specifically wants that complexity.
Heroes are added and rebalanced frequently.
Instead, use:
@Tank@Damage@Support@Flexible
Then let members specify individual Hero pools inside team applications or LFG listings.
Standard 5v5 Role Queue
The modern 5v5 Role Queue format uses:
- 1 Tank
- 2 Damage
- 2 Support
That structure is ideal for a Group Finder template.
6v6 Open Queue
Current 6v6 Open Queue provides more composition flexibility.
Do not force 1/2/2 onto it.
Blizzard has repeatedly experimented with 6v6 structure, including two-Tank limits and Quick Play Hacked formats.
Use a flexible six-player LFG template instead.
Stadium
Stadium is also team-based, but it is its own ecosystem.
The core Stadium structure is:
- two teams of five,
- 1 Tank,
- 2 Damage,
- 2 Support,
- round-based upgrades,
- Items and Powers,
- Hero commitment during the match.
Do not assume a standard Competitive player wants Stadium.
Give Stadium its own interest role and LFG template.
The Community We Will Build
This guide uses a fictional Overwatch community called Payload Union [PU].
Payload Union has around 400 Discord members and supports:
- Quick Play,
- Competitive 5v5 Role Queue,
- 6v6 Open Queue,
- Stadium,
- Arcade,
- Mystery Heroes,
- custom games,
- new-player coaching,
- scrims,
- community tournaments,
- OWCS watch parties.
The server is a general community rather than one fixed esports team.

Step 1: Build the Foundation With Start Your Server
Start Your Server can create or reorganize channels, roles, permission overwrites, starter content, and supported YourBot service settings.
For an existing Overwatch server, make the first build add-only.
Do not remove a working LFG or team system until normal members have tested the replacement.
Copy-ready Start Your Server prompt
Create or reorganize this Discord server for a 400-member Overwatch community
called Payload Union.
Use the current official game name Overwatch.
Do not call the current game Overwatch 2 except in historical context.
The community supports:
- Quick Play
- Competitive 5v5 Role Queue
- 6v6 Open Queue
- Stadium
- Arcade
- Mystery Heroes
- Custom Games
- Coaching
- Scrims
- Community Tournaments
- OWCS / Esports
Create onboarding with:
- welcome
- rules
- verification
- region roles
- platform/input interests
- Hero-role interests
- mode interests
- competitive/casual interests
- notification roles
Hero-role interests:
Tank
Damage
Support
Flexible
Mode interests:
Competitive 5v5
Quick Play
Open Queue 6v6
Stadium
Arcade
Mystery Heroes
Custom Games
Coaching
Esports
Treat all roles as community interests only.
Do not present Discord roles as proof of rank, Challenger Score,
Competitive eligibility, Hero mastery, account standing, or skill.
Create public areas for:
general chat, new-player help, Heroes and team comps, maps and strategy,
Competitive, Quick Play, 6v6, Stadium, Arcade, LFG, coaching,
custom games, clips, official updates, esports, and community events.
Create private staff areas for:
team applications, coaching applications, tournament administration,
member reports, moderation review, event planning, and staff logs.
Configure Welcome, Tickets, Sentinel, Beacon Events, Group Finder,
Join-to-Create Voice, Analytics, Announcements, Giveaways, and Social Feeds.
Use Join-to-Create Voice for temporary teams, scrims, coaching, and customs.
Do not create permanent channels for every Hero, map, Season, skin,
limited-time event, or professional team.
If this Discord already exists, do not delete or rename current live channels
during the first build. Stage the new structure beside them for testing.

Platform/input
Depending on your community:
@PC@PlayStation@Xbox@Nintendo Switch 2@Controller@Mouse & Keyboard
Do not assume platform and input are the same thing.
Current Overwatch allows native mouse-and-keyboard use on supported console setups while routing players into the appropriate input pool.
Step 2: Configure Welcome Around Format and Input Pool
Open Plugins → Welcome.
Overwatch cross-play is more nuanced than simply “PC and console can play together.”
In 2026 Blizzard supports cross-play in modes such as Quick Play and Arcade, while competitive integrity is increasingly organized around Controller and Mouse & Keyboard pools.
Console players using native mouse and keyboard can enter the Mouse & Keyboard pool.
Console players using controllers who group with PC friends can play cross-play-enabled modes such as Quick Play or Arcade.
For Competitive, the active pool and current game client remain the source of truth.
Welcome message
Welcome to Payload Union.
Choose your usual platform/input, Hero roles, and the modes you play.
Overwatch supports both 5v5 and 6v6 formats.
Make sure your LFG listing says which format you want.
Hero-role roles are preferences only.
Rank roles, if used, are not automatically verified.
Use #group-listings when you want a group now.
Region roles
Use the regions your community actually needs.
For example:
@North America@Europe@Asia@Oceania
Treat them as community-matching roles rather than a permanent copy of Blizzard infrastructure.
Step 3: Use Sentinel for Account Safety and Competitive Integrity
Hero-shooter communities face familiar Discord threats:
- phishing,
- fake Battle.net pages,
- boosting services,
- account-sale ads,
- cheat advertisements,
- fake tournament registration,
- malicious downloads,
- harassment,
- impersonation.
Blizzard’s Defense Matrix work also continues targeting cheating and unapproved competitive peripherals.
Use Sentinel for the Discord layer.
Rules worth testing
- suspicious URLs,
- Battle.net phishing,
- account sales,
- boosting advertisements,
- cheat advertisements,
- unauthorized invites,
- mention spam,
- duplicate spam,
- harassment,
- hate speech,
- raid behavior.
Start high-impact rules in dry-run or observation mode where appropriate.
Do not turn Discord accusations into anti-cheat verdicts
Sentinel cannot determine whether someone is cheating in Overwatch.
Your community can moderate:
- scam links,
- cheat advertising,
- harassment,
- tournament misconduct.
Blizzard controls game-account enforcement.
Use private reports.
Step 4: Use Tickets for Teams, Coaching, Reports, and Tournaments
Useful panels include:
- Team application
- Coach application
- Coaching request
- Scrim request
- Tournament registration
- Member report
- Moderation appeal
Team application
Ask:
BattleTag / display name
Region
Platform / input pool
Current rank (optional / self-reported)
Preferred Hero role(s)
Primary Heroes
Secondary Heroes
Preferred formats: 5v5 / 6v6 / Stadium / Custom
Availability
Competitive goals
Voice communication available?
Do not ask for Battle.net passwords or 2FA codes.
Coaching request
Ask:
Region
Platform / input
Rank
Primary role
Primary Heroes
What do you want help with?
Replay code / VOD link
Availability
Replay codes are much safer than account credentials.
Scrim request
Ask:
- team name,
- region,
- format,
- approximate skill level,
- 5v5 or 6v6,
- date/time,
- map/mode preferences,
- captain contact.
Format matters.
Do not schedule a 5v5 team against a 6v6 roster by accident.
Step 5: Use Beacon for Scheduled Overwatch Events
Beacon works well for:
- Competitive team practice
- 5v5 scrims
- 6v6 community nights
- Stadium nights
- coaching
- VOD/replay review
- custom-game nights
- community tournaments
- OWCS watch parties
Example: 5v5 Role Queue practice
Title: 5v5 Competitive Practice
Signup:
- Tank
- Damage
- Damage
- Support
- Support
- Substitute
For a complete two-team scrim, use the overall participant count and assign teams separately.
Example: 6v6 Open Queue night
Use:
Title: 6v6 Open Queue Night
Signup:
- Playing
- Substitute
- Organizer
Do not force 1/2/2 composition onto an Open Queue event.
Example: Stadium
Stadium’s core team structure uses:
- 1 Tank
- 2 Damage
- 2 Support
and is built around round-by-round Items and Powers.
Create:
Title: Stadium Night
Signup:
- Tank
- Damage
- Damage
- Support
- Support
- Substitute
Do not treat Stadium rank as normal Competitive rank.
Example: OWCS watch party
The 2026 Overwatch Champions Series includes regional stages and global events, with the World Finals scheduled for December 2–6.
Beacon can handle:
- reminder,
- watch-party RSVP,
- voice room,
- discussion thread.
Step 6: Build Overwatch Templates in Group Finder
YourBot’s current Group Finder automatic game-detection table does not include Overwatch.
Create the templates manually.
Template 1: Competitive 5v5 Role Queue
- Game:
Overwatch - Activity:
Competitive 5v5 - Party size:
5 - Region
- Experience / rank band
- Join mode: Open or Request
- Expiry: 1–2 hours
Role slots:
Tank — 1
Damage — 2
Support — 2
Example:
Region: NA
Current: 3/5
Rank: self-reported Platinum
Need: Tank + Support
Input: Mouse & Keyboard
Voice: Preferred
Template 2: Quick Play
Use:
- party size: up to 5 for standard 5v5 group formation,
- role slots optional,
- experience: Any,
- voice optional.
If your members are specifically looking for a 6v6 experiment or Open Queue, use a separate listing.
Template 3: Open Queue 6v6
Use:
- Activity:
Open Queue 6v6 - Party size:
6 - role slots: optional
- experience: Casual / Competitive
- short expiry
Current Open Queue supports six-player teams and remains materially different from standard 5v5 Role Queue.
Template 4: Stadium
Use:
- party size: 5,
- Tank 1,
- Damage 2,
- Support 2,
- Stadium rank / experience as optional self-reported context.
Stadium uses its own builds, Items, Powers, and rank ecosystem.
Template 5: Mystery Heroes / Arcade
Do not force traditional composition.
Use:
Activity: Arcade / Mystery Heroes
Players Needed:
Region:
Voice:
Goal: Casual / Event / Challenge
Template 6: Custom Game
Custom games can use wildly different rules.
Use a flexible template:
Custom Game:
Lobby Name:
Players Needed:
Format:
Workshop Code if relevant:
Voice:
Let the host define the actual capacity.
Step 7: Use Join-to-Create Voice for Teams and Customs
Static channels such as:
- Competitive 1
- Competitive 2
- Stadium 1
- 6v6 1
- Coaching 1
will eventually become empty clutter.
Use Join-to-Create Voice.
Recommended:
- Lobby:
➕ Create a Team Room - Category:
Temporary Teams - Name:
🎧 {display_name} - Delete when empty: enabled
- Creator owns room: enabled
- Auto-transfer ownership: enabled
- Owner panel: enabled
Members can rename rooms:
- NA Competitive
- EU Quick Play
- 6v6
- Stadium
- VOD Review
- Custom Game
In-game voice still matters
Overwatch includes native team communication.
Discord remains useful for:
- persistent groups,
- scrims,
- team practice,
- coaching,
- tournaments,
- watch parties.
Do not make Discord voice mandatory for every casual Quick Play group unless your community wants that rule.
Step 8: Use Announcements for Community Schedules
Start Your Server can enable Announcements, but schedules are configured manually.
Weekly schedule
**Payload Union — This Week**
Tuesday: New Player Coaching
Thursday: Stadium Night
Friday: Competitive 5v5
Saturday: 6v6 Community Night
Sunday: OWCS Watch Party
Use #group-listings for groups forming now.
Use #community-events for scheduled sessions.
Patch reminder
A new Overwatch update is live.
Read #official-updates first.
Use the discussion thread for Hero, map, and format reactions.
Do not create permanent channels for individual balance patches.
Step 9: Add Overwatch to Social Feeds Manually
This is an important YourBot-specific detail.
The currently inspected YourBot curated catalog does not include Overwatch.
In fact, the catalog still contains an older comment grouping Overwatch with Blizzard games that did not have a Steam presence.
That assumption is now stale.
Overwatch has been on Steam since 2023.
The current Steam App ID is:
2357570
YourBot’s generic Steam News source accepts arbitrary numeric Steam App IDs, so the community can configure Overwatch manually today.
Recommended setup
- Source: Steam News
- App ID:
2357570 - Destination:
#official-updates - Optional ping:
@Patch Notes
The current Steam source:
- defaults to a 900-second polling interval,
- requests publisher Steam Community announcements,
- excludes the wider third-party aggregator feed.
Important limitation
Steam announcements are not guaranteed to mirror:
- every Blizzard Director’s Take,
- every Defense Matrix article,
- every OWCS announcement,
- every support issue.
For major community guidance, link the current Blizzard article directly.
Step 10: Stadium Needs Its Own Community Lane
Stadium is too different from normal Overwatch to bury inside standard Competitive LFG.
Stadium’s core identity includes:
- five-player teams,
- role structure,
- round-based matches,
- Items,
- Powers,
- Hero builds,
- a separate Ranked ecosystem.
Blizzard’s 2026 development direction says Stadium will continue receiving:
- balance work,
- rank resets,
- rewards,
while no longer being the primary area for new Heroes or maps.
That makes it a stable mode interest, not the center of the whole server.
A small community needs:
@Stadium- a Group Finder template
- one Stadium channel or Forum tag.
A Stadium-heavy community can expand further.
Step 11: 5v5 and 6v6 Should Coexist in the Discord
Blizzard’s current usage data shows both formats have real audiences.
The mistake is treating one as “real Overwatch” and the other as a novelty.
5v5 Role Queue
Use for:
- standard Quick Play Role Queue,
- Competitive Role Queue,
- most organized 1/2/2 compositions.
6v6 Open Queue
Use for:
- Open Queue,
- players who prefer flexible composition,
- community events,
- current 6v6 support.
Experimental formats
Blizzard continues running Quick Play Hacked experiments, including Flex and Dynamic Queue variations.
Treat those as temporary event topics.
Do not rebuild the Discord every time a weekend experiment launches.
Step 12: Analytics Measures Discord Health, Not Competitive Rank
YourBot Analytics can help answer:
- Is 5v5 or 6v6 more active?
- Is Stadium active enough for its own channel?
- Which regions need events?
- Are new players using coaching?
- Are OWCS watch parties increasing voice activity?
- Which channels are redundant?
Exclude:
- staff logs,
- member reports,
- private Tickets,
- automated feeds,
- team-strategy channels when appropriate.
Analytics does not know
- Competitive rank,
- Challenger Score,
- hidden MMR,
- Stadium rank,
- win rate,
- Hero win rate,
- eliminations,
- healing,
- damage,
- endorsement level,
- account penalties.
Do not use Discord activity as a player-skill score.
Step 13: Giveaways and Battle.net Scams Need Clear Boundaries
YourBot Giveaways can run community drawings for:
- store gift cards,
- gaming peripherals,
- community merchandise,
- sponsor-provided items.
If a prize is Overwatch-related:
- describe the prize exactly,
- use legitimate fulfillment,
- never request Battle.net credentials,
- never ask for 2FA codes.
YourBot can select the Discord winner.
It does not grant skins, Battle Pass items, Mythic cosmetics, Competitive Points, or Battle.net entitlements by itself.
Cross-Play and Input Pools Need Clear LFG Labels
Modern Overwatch has more input flexibility than older guides suggest.
Blizzard’s current Defense Matrix documentation says console users can use native mouse and keyboard and enter the Mouse & Keyboard pool.
Controller users remain in the Controller pool.
A console Controller player can also group with a PC friend for cross-play-enabled modes such as Quick Play or Arcade.
Recommended LFG field
Add:
Input / Pool:
Controller
Mouse & Keyboard
Cross-play casual
For Competitive listings, the game client is the source of truth for current eligibility.
Do not promise that every PC/console/input combination can enter every Competitive queue together.
Nintendo Switch 2 Is Now Part of the Current Ecosystem
Blizzard launched Overwatch on Nintendo Switch 2 in Reign of Talon Season 2.
That makes Switch 2 a current platform role if your community needs platform-specific support.
Do not confuse it with old original-Switch performance assumptions.
For most normal LFG, region/input/mode still matter more than the exact console brand.
Competitive: Use Current Systems, Not Old Top 500 Language
In 2026 Blizzard replaced the old Top 500 leaderboard model with the Challenger system.
Current Challenger leaderboards include:
- region,
- role,
- combined boards,
- Stadium,
- Open Queue support.
If your community creates high-rank roles, do not automatically label someone @Top 500 based on old screenshots.
Use current terminology and a deliberate verification method if you truly need high-rank access.
For most communities, broad self-reported rank bands are enough.
Scrims Need a Different Workflow From Normal LFG
A normal Group Finder listing answers:
Need two more for Competitive.
A scrim needs:
- team name,
- format,
- region,
- approximate skill,
- 5v5 or 6v6,
- date/time,
- maps/modes,
- captain contact,
- private lobby information.
Use:
- Tickets for scrim requests,
- Beacon for scheduling,
- temporary Voice rooms,
- the custom Plugin Builder workflow below for persistent team operations.
A Complete First-Week Workflow
Day 1: New member
A member joins.
They:
- verify,
- choose
@North America, - choose
@Supportand@Flexible, - choose
@Competitive 5v5, - opt into
@LFG Alerts.
They immediately know which listing fits them.
Day 2: Competitive group
They create:
Title: NA Competitive 5v5
Current: 3/5
Need: Tank + Support
Rank: self-reported Platinum
Input: Mouse & Keyboard
Voice: Preferred
The listing expires after the session.
Day 3: Coaching
A coach creates:
Title: Support Fundamentals
Signup:
- Learning
- Coach
- Observer
Beacon handles reminders.
Day 4: Stadium
Five members form a Stadium group with:
- 1 Tank,
- 2 Damage,
- 2 Support.
They use a temporary team room.
Day 5: Blizzard update
The manually configured Steam source posts a Blizzard publisher announcement.
Staff link a Blizzard article separately if deeper context is needed.
Day 6: 6v6 night
Beacon schedules a six-player Open Queue community night.
It does not force 1/2/2.
Day 7: Review
Staff inspect:
- 5v5 vs 6v6 activity,
- Stadium participation,
- coaching demand,
- cross-play/input questions,
- voice usage,
- Ticket backlog,
- Sentinel cases,
- unused channels.
Discord participation is not treated as Overwatch skill.
Optional Plugin Builder Project: Team Practice & Scrim Board
The AI Plugin Builder becomes useful when an Overwatch community runs recurring teams, scrims, or coaching programs.
A Team Practice & Scrim Board is a strong fit because it can support both 5v5 and 6v6 without pretending to read Blizzard account data.
Copy-ready Plugin Builder prompt
Create an Overwatch Team Practice & Scrim Board plugin for YourBot.
This is a Discord-side team organization tool.
Administrators configure:
- Team Captain role
- Coach role
- Scrim Organizer role
- private team review channel
- optional public team directory
Each team stores:
- team name
- region
- captain
- optional coach
- preferred format:
5v5 Role Queue
6v6 Open Queue
Stadium
Custom
- status: Recruiting, Active, Paused, Archived
- public description
Each Discord-side roster member stores:
- Discord member
- preferred Hero roles:
Tank
Damage
Support
Flexible
- self-entered primary Heroes
- self-entered secondary Heroes
- platform/input note
- availability
- optional private coach note
Each practice or scrim stores:
- date/time
- format
- opponent
- maps / modes
- roster
- substitutes
- optional observer / caster
- private lobby note
- VOD / replay-code field
- post-match review
- result as organizer-entered data
Add commands:
- /ow-team-create
- /ow-team-list
- /ow-team-join-request
- /ow-practice-create
- /ow-practice-attend
- /ow-scrim-request
- /ow-scrim-view
- /ow-review
Add a dashboard for captains and coaches.
Do not request Battle.net passwords, session tokens, or 2FA codes.
Do not claim to read live Competitive rank, Challenger Score, hidden MMR,
Stadium rank, Hero stats, endorsement level, or account standing.
Do not automatically create Overwatch custom lobbies in version 1.
All ranks, Hero pools, replay codes, rosters, and results are member- or
organizer-entered unless a future approved Blizzard integration is added.
Store all data per Discord server and keep an audit log for staff changes.
How it complements YourBot
Use:
- Team Practice Board for persistent team/scrim records
- Beacon for scheduled attendance
- Group Finder for groups forming now
- Tickets for team/coaching applications
- Voice for active sessions
- Announcements for schedules
- Analytics for Discord participation
The custom plugin fills an Overwatch-specific planning gap instead of duplicating the built-in services.
A Future Blizzard Integration Should Be Separate
A larger community may eventually want:
- public player profile data,
- rank verification,
- team statistics,
- match records.
Treat that as a separate integration project.
A safe integration needs:
- an approved Blizzard data source,
- clear authentication,
- user consent,
- rate limits,
- cache timing,
- deletion rules,
- failure behavior.
Do not ask members for Battle.net passwords or session tokens.
Version 1 of the Team Practice Board does not need a live game API.
Common Setup Mistakes
Calling the current game Overwatch 2
Blizzard dropped the “2” in February 2026.
Assuming Overwatch is only 5v5
Current Overwatch supports meaningful 5v5 and 6v6 populations.
Forcing 1/2/2 onto Open Queue 6v6
Open Queue is intentionally more flexible.
Treating Stadium as normal Competitive
It has its own builds, Items, Powers, and ranking ecosystem.
Creating one Discord role per Hero
Use Tank, Damage, Support, and Flexible unless your members demand more.
Treating self-reported rank as verified
Label it.
Using old Top 500 terminology without checking
The 2026 Challenger system replaced that leaderboard model.
Assuming platform equals input pool
Console mouse-and-keyboard support changed that relationship.
Treating the Social Feed catalog comment as current product truth
YourBot’s current catalog still contains an older note saying Overwatch lacks Steam presence. That is stale; the current game is on Steam with App ID 2357570.
Using Discord Analytics as performance analytics
It is not.

The catalog contains an outdated assumption that Overwatch has no Steam presence.
Can I still use Social Feeds for Overwatch?
Yes. Configure Steam News manually with Steam App ID 2357570.
How often does the feed check?
The inspected Steam source defaults to a 900-second polling interval.
Can YourBot verify Competitive rank or Challenger Score?
Not through the built-in Discord services described here.
Do I need a custom plugin?
No. Start with the built-in services. Add a Team Practice & Scrim Board only when the community needs persistent team operations.
Final Verdict
The current game is Overwatch—not Overwatch 2—and a current Discord should use that name.
A modern Overwatch community may simultaneously support:
- Competitive 5v5,
- Quick Play,
- Open Queue 6v6,
- Stadium,
- Arcade,
- Mystery Heroes,
- custom games,
- coaching,
- scrims,
- OWCS.
Use Start Your Server to create a permanent foundation around:
- role-aware onboarding,
- 5v5 and 6v6 mode interests,
- region/input context,
- LFG,
- coaching,
- scrims,
- temporary voice,
- private staff workflows.
Then give each YourBot service one clear responsibility:
- Welcome for onboarding
- Sentinel for Discord safety
- Tickets for applications, coaching, and reports
- Beacon for scheduled practices and events
- Group Finder for teams forming now
- Join-to-Create Voice for temporary groups
- Announcements for recurring schedules
- Social Feeds for Blizzard Steam announcements
- Analytics for Discord community health
- Giveaways for optional community events
Use the Plugin Builder when the community needs a persistent workflow such as a Team Practice & Scrim Board.
Discord can organize the team. Overwatch remains the source of truth for matchmaking, rank, Challenger Score, Hero balance, input pools, and match results.
