Shows you the greeting a new member would get, using you as the example member. Requires Manage Server; without it the bot replies "Requires Manage Server." The reply is visible only to you, and nothing is posted in the welcome channel.
Each server can run it once every 20 seconds. Inside that window the bot replies "The preview was just run. Try again in 12s." with the seconds left.
The preview follows the same settings as a real join. It picks from the Rotating Messages list when one exists, so two runs can show different greetings. With the Rich Embed on you see the embed with your avatar, the Server highlights line when that is on, the Start Here channels, the footer "Member #N", and the card as the embed image. With the embed off you see the plain text with the card attached. A rotating message that carries a picture shows the picture instead of the card. When the card cannot be built, the embed preview says "The card could not be rendered." When no message is set at all, the preview uses "Welcome to {server}, {user.mention}! You are member #{member_count}!".
If the preview fails the bot replies "The preview could not be built. Try again in a moment."
Good to know
- The preview works before a welcome channel is set.
- It does not send the welcome DM, give auto roles, post the quest list, pair a buddy or write a log line.
- @everyone and @here never ping in the preview, the same as in the real greeting.
