Turns the welcome direct message on or off. Requires Manage Server; without it the bot replies "Requires Manage Server." The reply is visible only to you and reads "Welcome DMs enabled." or "Welcome DMs disabled."
With DMs on, every new member gets a private message from the bot. The default text is "Welcome to {server}! Check out the rules and enjoy your stay." It accepts the same placeholders as the welcome message and is sent as plain text, without the card or the embed.
Good to know
- The DM text is edited on the Settings page. There is no command for it. An empty text means no DM is sent.
- The DM does not need a welcome channel. It is sent even when no channel greeting is set up.
- Members who block DMs from server members do not receive it, and nothing else happens.
- Bots joining are ignored.
