Sets the channel where new members are greeted. Requires Manage Server; without it the bot replies "Requires Manage Server." The reply is visible only to you.
The picker offers text and announcement channels. A channel from another server is refused with "That channel is not in this server." On success the bot replies "Welcome channel set to #channel."
This channel does more than carry the greeting. It is the fallback for goodbye messages, milestone posts and the quest list when those have no channel of their own, and it is where the buddy introduction and the first-message shout-out are posted.
Good to know
- The command does not check the bot's permissions in the channel. The bot needs to see the channel and have Send Messages and Embed Links there, or nothing arrives.
- The default welcome message is sent from the next join on. Change the text with /welcome set message.
- The Setup page can create a ready-made #welcome channel for you instead.
