Lets a member contest a case against them. Discord shows it to everyone. The bot checks Command Access rules and that the Moderation service is enabled ("Sentinel is not enabled for this server."). No staff role is needed.
The case number must exist ("Case #42 not found.") and the case must be against the member running the command ("You can only appeal cases against yourself."). Each case can be appealed once; a second attempt gets "An appeal already exists for this case." The reason is kept to 2000 characters. On success the reply is "Your appeal for Case #42 has been submitted. Staff will review it shortly." Only the member sees it.
Nothing is posted to the moderation log channel when an appeal is filed. Staff review appeals on the dashboard Appeals page, which shows a count of pending appeals in the service's navigation.
Good to know
- Warn and timeout DMs tell the member their case number and how to appeal. Kick and ban DMs carry a web appeal link instead, since a removed member cannot run commands in the server.
