Group Finder

Group Finder lets members post a group they are recruiting for, join with one click, and get told when a matching group appears. Setting it up takes one command or one click. Every step below can be done by a server owner or a member with Manage Server.

1. Check the bot can create channels. The setup wizard creates a category, a text channel and a forum channel, so the bot needs Manage Channels in the server. Without it the wizard stops before changing anything and asks you to grant the permission. If you would rather point Group Finder at channels you already have, skip to step 4.

2. Turn the service on. Open the dashboard, choose the server, open Services and switch Group Finder on. You can skip this step when you use the wizard in step 3; switching the service on is one of the wizard's own steps.

3. Run the wizard. In Discord, type /group setup, or open Services, then Group Finder in the dashboard, which lands on the Set Up Group Finder page while nothing is configured, and press Set Up Group Finder. The wizard detects the games your channel and role names mention, creates a Group Finder category with #lfg-listings (everyone reads, only the bot posts) and #lfg-forum (one tag per game plus Raid, Dungeon, PvP, Social, Arena and Fresh, Prog, Farm, Chill), sets the channel permissions, saves both channels as the listing and forum channels, turns on Create forum threads, creates starter templates, and posts a welcome card in #lfg-listings. Rerunning it reuses channels and templates that already exist. The final card lists each step with a check mark or a cross; a cross means that step failed, so read the lines rather than the title.

4. Or configure by hand. On the dashboard open Services, Group Finder, Settings. The only setting that matters for posting is the Listing channel; without one, the first /group create adopts the channel it was typed in and saves it as the listing channel. Set a Forum channel and tick Create forum threads if you want one thread per listing instead of cards in a text channel; while both are set, listings go to the forum only. Everything else has a working default: 3 active listings per member, listings open 4 hours by default and 48 at most, a 60 second create cooldown, no minimum account age, no blocked words, open joining.

5. Decide the optional channels. On the same page, an Alert channel is needed only if members will choose channel delivery in /group-alerts add; without it those alerts do not send and the command says so. A Log channel receives a notice each time someone files /group report. An LFG Ping Role ID makes each new card mention that role, at most once every 10 minutes.

6. Post the first group. In any channel, run /group quick dungeon or /group create title:Test run. The reply is **{title}** is live! (or posted to #channel when the card went elsewhere). Look for the card: it shows the title with how many players are wanted, the leader, the party size, the time left, and Join, Leave, Watch, Ready Check and Done buttons. With forum threads on, the card is the first post of a new thread in #lfg-forum.

7. Confirm it works end to end. Have a second member press Join on the card or run /group join and pick the listing. The card updates with their name, and /group browse lists the group. Then press Done on the card or run /group close to end it; the card switches to closed and, with forum threads on, the thread is locked and archived.

8. Check the summary. /group-admin settings shows the channels and limits the bot is using. If a channel shows as a dash, it is not set. /group-admin templates lists the templates members can pick in /group create, including the starter ones the wizard made.

9. Decide who can run what. Open Services, Group Finder, Commands in the dashboard. /group-admin commands are hidden by Discord from members without Manage Server by default. /group noshow, /group approve, /group deny and /group report sit in the moderation category, so applying the Default preset limits them to your moderator roles even though members and leaders use them; give them a rule of their own if you want everyone to keep them.
