Cancels an announcement before it posts. One required option, announcement_id: the number /announce list shows, also printed next to each entry on the dashboard.
What it checks first. Any Command Access rule for it applies, and the server owner always passes. The number must belong to this server. A number from another server, or one that does not exist, gets "Announcement not found."
What happens. A waiting or paused announcement is marked cancelled and never posts. The bot answers "✅ Cancelled." and only you see it. For a repeating announcement this ends the whole series, not just the next post. If it has already posted, failed or been cancelled, the bot answers "Could not cancel (already fired or already cancelled)."
What it does not do. Cancelling cannot be undone. A cancelled announcement cannot be edited or fired again from the dashboard; create a new one instead. Nothing already posted in Discord is deleted.
Good to know
- To stop a repeating announcement for a while without losing it, use Pause on the dashboard and Resume later. A paused one can still be cancelled with this command.
/announce listleaves out paused announcements; take their number from the dashboard.- Discord shows this command to every member by default. Lock it to staff roles under Services, Scheduled Announcements, Commands.
