How to Build and Run a Star Wars: The Old Republic Discord Community With YourBot

A Star Wars: The Old Republic Discord should be organized around server, faction, group-content size, combat role, Guild membership, progression goal, and whether the activity is story, Flashpoint, Operation, PvP, Galactic Starfighter, Conquest, or a seasonal objective. SWTOR is not one generic five-player MMO queue. Standard groups are four players. Operations can be eight or sixteen players, although newer Operations increasingly focus on eight-player design. Warzones are eight-versus-eight. Arenas are four-versus-four. Galactic Starfighter is its own large-team PvP system. Guilds are persistent server/faction communities with their own Flagships, Strongholds, Conquest goals, and officer structures.

The second major Discord mistake is to treat SWTOR's servers as flavor labels. They are not. Current live servers are:

US

Europe

Asia-Pacific

A Star Forge player cannot simply join a Darth Malgus Flashpoint group because both are playing the same game. Character transfers exist, but EA's current transfer documentation explicitly treats Legacies and Guilds as server-bound; Guilds cannot be transferred as one object and must be recreated after individual members transfer.

This guide builds a fictional 256-member Discord called Outer Rim Concord. Its primary community is on Star Forge, with two sister Guilds:

The public Discord also welcomes players from all six live servers for help, class/build discussion, PvP, seasonal objectives, story discussion, Strongholds, crafting, and server-specific LFG.

YourBot handles the Discord-side foundation. SWTOR remains authoritative for characters, server, faction, Legacy, Guild membership, Combat Style, Discipline, gear, Operations lockouts, Activity Finder, PvP queues, Galactic Starfighter, Conquest, Strongholds, Cartel Market ownership, and rewards.

Start With the Right SWTOR Community Model

Server comes before class or role

As of September 25, 2026, the official Server Status page lists six live SWTOR servers:

Every operational LFG should state the server.

For example:

Server: Star Forge
Faction: Republic
Activity: Veteran Flashpoint

not simply:

NA Flashpoint

SWTOR does not currently provide a general cross-server PvE Group Finder that makes server identity irrelevant.

Republic and Empire remain different social/Guild identities

SWTOR has eight Origin Stories divided between the Republic and Empire:

Republic

Empire

Combat Styles let characters use flexible combat identities beyond the old class-locking model, but the Origin Story/faction identity still matters for Guilds, story context, and many group/community workflows.

Outer Rim Concord therefore runs sister Guilds rather than pretending one in-game Guild contains both factions.

Public Discord channels can be unified.

Operational Guild channels remain clearly labeled:

SWTOR's standard group size is four

Flashpoints and Uprisings are fundamentally four-player group content.

Useful default roles are:

Some Story/Veteran content can be completed with more flexible compositions, companions, or strong players, but four is the correct planning target.

Do not use YourBot's generic five-person Quick Group.

Operations are eight or sixteen players

Official SWTOR group-content documentation describes Operations as large-scale content for eight or sixteen players.

An Operation group itself can extend to 16 players as four groups of four.

However, not every current Operation supports both sizes. R-4 Anomaly was deliberately designed for eight players only, and the upcoming 8.0 Children of Nul Operation is also an eight-player Operation.

That leads to a useful Discord rule:

Use 8 as the modern default Operation template, and create a 16-player template only for Operations/content that actually supports 16.

Do not advertise every Operation as 16-player just because older Operations support it.

PvP has two important group sizes

Current SWTOR PvP uses:

The old distinction between Ranked and Unranked PvP was removed in 7.2. Players queue into Warzones/Arenas rather than a separate ranked ladder.

The current guide should therefore use:

rather than an obsolete "Ranked Arena Team" workflow.

Galactic Starfighter is its own activity

Galactic Starfighter is space PvP with ships, components, upgrades, roles, and objective/dogfight modes.

It should have its own interest/LFG template rather than being shoved into ground PvP.

A current Discord can use a community planning target, but should make clear that the in-game match contains larger teams than a normal four-player ground group.

Guilds can be large

SWTOR increased the Guild membership cap to 1,000 members.

Guilds can also have:

That makes a Discord useful well beyond LFG.

But a 256-member Discord does not need to mirror every in-game Guild rank.

Use Discord roles only when they change:

Current client state includes a Mac Open Beta

The current official download page provides:

The Mac beta uses the player's live account and progress is permanent.

That makes Windows PC and Mac Open Beta useful support roles, but not separate SWTOR server communities.

Do not design separate Star Forge LFG just because one player uses the Mac beta.

Current live game state: 7.9.1 and Galactic Seasons 11

As of September 25, 2026, the current live update is:

Game Update 7.9.1

Current seasonal content includes:

Galactic Seasons 11 — Light and Shadow

The current September objectives window runs September 15 through October 12.

PvP Season 10 — Honor in Battle

Do not tell members PvP Season 10 is still active on September 25.

8.0 Masters of the Force is PTS/future content

Game Update 8.0 is currently being tested, not live.

Official announced 8.0 features include:

Children of Nul is an 8-player, three-boss Operation launching with Story and Veteran Modes, with Master Mode later.

As of September 25, PTS phase 4 includes:

Do not create a live Children of Nul reclear template yet.

Use:

8.0 / Children of Nul Prep

for future planning.

The Community We Will Build

Outer Rim Concord is a 256-member SWTOR Discord.

Giveaways Run Discord-side drawings without claiming YourBot grants Cartel Coins, subscription time, credits, Guild rank, gear, or rewards.

1. Create the Foundation With Start Your Server

Do not build a Discord category for every Flashpoint, Operation, Origin Story, planet, Stronghold, or Galactic Season objective.

Use durable categories and let templates/events carry changing detail.

Review before applying

Preview as:

A public Satele Shan player should not accidentally see restricted Star Forge Guild officer channels.

Keep deletion disabled on the first build.

Announcements schedules and Social Feed subscriptions require manual finishing steps.

2. Welcome: Server First, Then Faction and Role

Recommended onboarding:

  1. server
  2. faction
  3. combat role
  4. content interest
  5. Guild interest

Useful roles:

Do not require a permanent class role. Combat Styles and multiple characters make a role-first community more useful.

A concise greeting:

Welcome to Outer Rim Concord. Choose your SWTOR server before using LFG; group content is server-specific. Standard groups are four players, Operations are typically eight with selected legacy Operations supporting sixteen, Arenas are 4v4, and Warzones are 8v8. Our Star Forge Republic and Imperial Guilds are separate in-game sister Guilds under one Discord.

Test: Join with a Darth Malgus test account, select Empire, Healer, and Operations, and verify no Star Forge Guild-only role appears.

3. Sentinel: Protect Accounts, Credits, and Guild Communities

SWTOR communities commonly share:

Focus Sentinel on:

Do not automatically punish normal discussion of parsers, combat logs, Cartel Market, or credit economy.

Discord moderation is not SWTOR enforcement.

Test: Post a controlled dummy RMT/account-sale message in staff-only testing and confirm Sentinel logs/blocks it without suppressing legitimate economy discussion.

4. Tickets: Guild, Operations, Static Recruitment, and Reports

Guild Application

Ask for:

Operation Learning

Ask for:

Static Recruitment

Ask for:

Private Report

Ask for:

Never request passwords, 2FA, payment data, or launcher/account access.

Test: Open one Republic Guild application and one Operation-learning request. Confirm they route to different teams.

5. Group Finder: Replace Five With SWTOR's Real Sizes

Read-only inspection of YourBot's current develop revision shows SWTOR is not in Group Finder's automatic detection list.

The generic setup would create a five-player Quick Group.

That is incorrect for SWTOR.

Flashpoint template

Template Name: SWTOR — Flashpoint
Game: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Default Party Size: 4
Default Expiry: 2 hours
Description: Four-player Flashpoint/Uprising group. Require server, faction, activity, Story/Veteran/Master, Tank/Healer/DPS needs, learner/reclear status, and voice.

Additional templates

Template Target Context
Flashpoint 4 Server, faction, difficulty, roles
Uprising 4 Server, faction, difficulty, roles
Operation 8 Operation, difficulty, Tank/Heal/DPS, learning/prog
Legacy 16-player Operation 16 Only where current content supports 16
Arena 4 Server, faction/queue, PvP goal
Warzone Premade up to 8 Server, PvP session
Galactic Starfighter organizer-defined Server, mode/role/ship goal
8.0 Children of Nul Prep 8 upcoming Clearly PTS/future, not reclear

Example Operation listing

Title: Veteran Operation — Learning
Server: Star Forge
Faction: Republic
Target: 8
Current: 6/8
Difficulty: Veteran
Roles:
- Tank: 1/2
- Healer: 2/2
- DPS: 3/4
Status: Learning / progression
Voice: Required
Notes:
- Gear/clear history is self-reported.
- Joining Discord does not create the Operation group.

16-player example

Use only when the Operation actually supports it.

Do not create a generic 16-player template and imply R-4 or upcoming Children of Nul uses 16.

PvP example

Title: Warzone Night
Server: Satele Shan
Target Premade: 8
Goal: Casual / objectives
Voice: Optional

Test: Fill a Flashpoint to 4 and confirm the fifth waits. Fill an Operation to 8 and confirm the ninth waits.

6. Beacon Events: Operations, Conquest, Strongholds, and Guild Nights

Beacon works well for:

Operation event

Event: Veteran Operation Learning
Server: Star Forge
Faction: Empire
Capacity: 8
Roles:
- 2 Tank
- 2 Healer
- 4 DPS
Learning: Yes
Voice: Required
Waitlist: Enabled

Those role counts are community planning defaults; individual encounters/statics can optimize differently.

Guild Conquest night

Event: Concord Vanguard Conquest Night
Server: Star Forge
Faction: Republic
Attendance: 20
Activities:
- heroics
- Flashpoints
- Operations
- crafting/War Supplies
- PvP/GSF objectives

Twenty attendees do not make one 20-player in-game group.

8.0 preparation

Event: Children of Nul Prep
Status: PTS / UPCOMING
Expected Live Operation Size: 8
Goal:
- review announced mechanics
- assemble future roster
Do not label as reclear.

Test: Create a 20-person Conquest event with smaller in-game groups and an 8-person Operation event separately.

7. Join-to-Create Voice: Four, Eight, Sixteen, PvP

Create:

Join Group

Join Operation

Legacy 16 Operation

PvP

GSF

Enable:

Voice does not create in-game groups or bypass server/faction restrictions.

Test: Fill a four-person room and confirm the fifth cannot enter; test 8-player Operation voice separately.

8. Announcements: Separate Live 7.9.1 From 8.0 PTS

Current example:

SWTOR — September 25, 2026

LIVE:
- Game Update 7.9.1
- Galactic Seasons 11: Light and Shadow
- current GS objective window: Sep 15-Oct 12

ENDED:
- PvP Season 10: Honor in Battle ended Sep 22
- Relics of the Gree ended Sep 22

UPCOMING LIVE EVENT:
- Pirate Incursion: Sep 29-Oct 6

PTS / FUTURE:
- Game Update 8.0: Masters of the Force
- level cap 85
- Ventures
- overworld Difficulty Modes
- Children of Nul: 8-player Operation
- second boss currently available on PTS

Do not call 8.0 live.

Use opt-in:

Test: Schedule a Pirate Incursion reminder and ensure only the relevant role is pinged.

9. Social Feeds: Add SWTOR Through Steam

Read-only inspection of YourBot's current Social Feeds catalog shows no curated SWTOR entry and no Steam App ID 1286830.

Create:

Source: Steam
Steam App ID: 1286830
Display Name: Star Wars: The Old Republic — Official Steam News
Destination: #swtor-updates
Ping Role: None by default
Digest: Off or hourly

The inspected YourBot Steam adapter uses:

The SWTOR website remains especially important for:

Do not claim the Steam feed mirrors every SWTOR website article.

Test: Add App ID 1286830, preview it in #swtor-updates, and confirm no unwanted ping.

10. Analytics: Measure the Discord, Not the Legacy

Analytics can answer:

Analytics does not know:

Do not rank players by Discord activity.

Test: Generate chat, one LFG, and voice activity; confirm private tickets/staff areas are excluded where intended.

11. Giveaways: Keep Discord Drawings Separate From SWTOR Rewards

Safe prizes:

Do not imply YourBot automatically grants:

Never request account/payment credentials.

Test: Run a staff-only giveaway for Choose next learning Operation, verify winner/reroll, then use the same safe pattern publicly.

Treat Server and Faction as Two Separate Compatibility Fields

A useful listing looks like:

Star Forge / Republic

not:

US / PvE

Outer Rim Concord can still share one Discord across all servers/factions.

Use server/faction tags in Group Finder.

Keep Star Forge Guild operations restricted to the members who actually belong there.

Use Combat Role Before Origin Story

SWTOR's Origin Stories are narrative identities.

Combat Styles and Disciplines determine actual group role.

For LFG, prioritize:

Then optionally show:

Do not assume:

Jedi Knight = DPS only.

A character's combat setup is more flexible than the old class stereotype.

Pair Republic and Imperial Sister Guilds Under One Community

A single Discord can support both factions cleanly.

Public:

Restricted:

Guild transfer/recreation is server-bound; EA's current transfer documentation explicitly says a Guild itself cannot be transferred as one object.

That makes Discord the stable social layer even if members move characters.

Add a Galactic Roster & Operation Readiness Ledger Only When You Need It

Outer Rim Concord can launch with built-ins.

Group Finder handles today's run. Beacon handles scheduled Operations. Tickets handle Guild/static recruiting. Announcements handle seasons/events.

A custom plugin becomes useful if Operation Leads repeatedly ask:

Which Star Forge Republic/Empire characters do our members say they have ready, what roles can they play, and which Operations/difficulties are they comfortable with?

Before building, check the Marketplace for a maintained solution. If none fits, create Galactic Roster & Operation Readiness Ledger.

Copy-ready Plugin Builder specification

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the current SWTOR servers?

Star Forge, Satele Shan, Darth Malgus, Tulak Hord, The Leviathan, and Shae Vizla.

How many players are in a Flashpoint?

Flashpoints are designed around four-player groups.

How many players are in Operations?

SWTOR Operations can support 8 or 16 depending on the Operation. Modern Operations such as R-4 Anomaly and upcoming Children of Nul focus on 8 players.

What are the current PvP sizes?

Warzones are 8v8 and Arenas are 4v4.

Is PvP Season 10 still active?

No. It ended September 22, 2026.

What is live right now?

Game Update 7.9.1 and Galactic Seasons 11: Light and Shadow are live.

Is 8.0 Masters of the Force live?

No. It is currently being tested on the Public Test Server.

Does YourBot automatically detect SWTOR in Group Finder?

Not in the read-only develop revision inspected for this guide. Create explicit SWTOR templates manually.

Is SWTOR already in YourBot Social Feeds?

Not in the inspected catalog. Add the generic Steam source manually with App ID 1286830.

Can YourBot read gear, parses, achievements, Operation clears, Guild membership, or Conquest?

Not through these built-in services. The optional Galactic Roster & Operation Readiness Ledger is deliberately self-reported/manual in version 1.

Build the Discord Around the Server, Faction, and Activity That Actually Exists

SWTOR already has strong in-game systems for groups, Guilds, Activity Finder, Flashpoints, Operations, PvP, Galactic Starfighter, Conquest, Strongholds, crafting, companions, and story progression. A useful Discord should make those systems easier to coordinate without pretending to replace them.

Start Your Server creates the stable shell. Welcome makes server/faction explicit. Sentinel protects a large MMO community from account/RMT scams. Tickets route Guild and learning workflows privately. Group Finder uses the real four-, eight-, and sixteen-player structures instead of a five-player fallback. Beacon schedules full Operations and Conquest events. Temporary voice mirrors the activity. Announcements separate live 7.9.1/GS11 from ended PvP Season 10 and future 8.0 PTS content. Social Feeds uses official Steam publisher announcements.

SWTOR remains authoritative for characters, servers, factions, Guilds, groups, Combat Styles, gear, lockouts, PvP, GSF, Conquest, Strongholds, credits, and rewards.

Use Start Your Server to establish or refine the Discord foundation. Add Plugin Builder only when persistent multi-character Operation/Guild readiness becomes a real recurring need the built-in services do not already solve.
