The best Carl-bot alternative
The best alternative to Carl-bot is YourBot: one bot whose features are plugins, with ten built in and an open marketplace for the rest.
Carl-bot is a well-known all-in-one Discord bot, popular for reaction roles, automod and logging. Its modules are first-party: Carl-bot builds them, and the feature list is the feature list. That works while the list covers you, and the usual answer when it stops is a second bot alongside it.
YourBot is built the other way around: one bot, ten built-in plugins that come with every server and an open marketplace where independent developers publish more. Every plugin ships switched off, so you turn on what you want: Sentinel, Analytics, Tickets, Beacon Events, Group Finder, Join-to-Create Voice, Welcome, Announcements, Giveaways and Social Feeds.
The honest part first: reaction roles
YourBot has no reaction roles. Nothing in it binds a role to an emoji on a message, so if reaction roles are the center of your setup, that is a job Carl-bot does and we do not. What ships instead is self-assign role menus in the Welcome plugin: an embed with buttons or a dropdown, single or multi choice, each option with its own label, emoji and description. Members click instead of reacting, which covers most of what reaction roles are used for, but your existing posts do not carry over. Rebuild them as menus, or keep Carl-bot for that one job.
Where the depth is: moderation
Sentinel is the built-in moderation plugin, a rules engine rather than a filter list: 15 condition types, 9 actions and 3 triggers, with ANY or ALL matching per rule. Conditions cover word and phrase matching (regex included and normalized so invisible characters do not get a banned word past it), spam rate, mention floods, caps, links, attachment types, account age, duplicate messages, nicknames, a built-in phishing list and the member's own risk score. Actions run from delete and warn through timeout, kick, ban, quarantine, channel alerts, DMs and auto-rename. Rules can be aimed at specific channels, exclude channels and exempt roles, and any action can wait until a member has N warnings.
Two things make it safe to adopt on a live server. Every rule can run in log-only mode, and a server-wide switch forces all of them into it, so you can watch what would have happened before anything bites. The rule editor also tests a rule before you save it: paste a sample message and it says whether it would trigger and which conditions matched. 11 rule templates and three protection presets give you a starting set instead of a blank page, and the setup wizard installs them in log-only by default.
Underneath sits a scoring layer. Every case, warn through ban, feeds a per-member risk score from 0 to 100 with a visible per-factor breakdown, decaying with age: full weight for 30 days, half to 90, a quarter to a year. Five risk bands drive the responses you choose: a silent flag, a mod-log notice, a ping to your mod roles and optional auto-quarantine at the top. Edited messages are re-scanned, so posting clean and editing the bad link in afterwards does not get through.
What actually gets logged
Sentinel opens a numbered case for every action with the reason, who did it and the rule that fired, posts a mod-log embed for each and keeps the 11 messages around an automod trigger as evidence. Welcome logs joins and leaves to their own channel, and the dashboard keeps an activity feed of who changed what. What YourBot does not ship today is a general message edit and delete log, so if a full event log is a hard requirement, weigh it first.
Moving over
Keep Carl-bot running, enable the plugins that cover what you use, compare for a week and retire whichever bot you stop reaching for. Beyond those, the marketplace is where the list keeps growing: plugins from independent developers, each in a locked-down container with no network access and a read-only filesystem, scanned on every release before it ships. Pricing is on /pricing and the other write-ups on /compare.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
What is the best alternative to Carl-bot?
YourBot: one bot whose features are plugins, with ten built in and an open marketplace where independent developers publish more. You enable only the plugins your server needs instead of managing one fixed feature list.
Does YourBot have reaction roles?
No. YourBot has no emoji-to-role binding. The Welcome plugin ships self-assign role menus instead, posted as buttons or a dropdown, single or multi choice, with a label, emoji and description per role, so members click rather than react.
Does YourBot have automod like Carl-bot?
Yes. The built-in Sentinel plugin is an automod rules engine with 15 condition types, 9 actions and 3 triggers, plus 11 rule templates, raid protection, warnings and full case management.
Can I test moderation rules before they punish anyone?
Yes. Every rule can run in log-only mode and a server-wide switch forces all of them into it, so you see what would have happened first. The rule editor also tests a sample message and tells you which conditions matched.
Does YourBot log everything Carl-bot logs?
Not everything. Sentinel opens a numbered case and posts a mod-log embed for every moderation action, Welcome logs joins and leaves to their own channel and the dashboard keeps an activity feed of who changed what on the server. There is no general message edit and delete log today.
Can I run Carl-bot and YourBot at the same time?
Yes. Many servers run both while switching. Enable YourBot plugins one at a time, compare them against the modules you use and retire the old bot when nothing is left that you miss.
Do I need a custom bot to install marketplace plugins?
Yes. Marketplace plugins run only on a custom bot, which means your own Discord application under your own name and avatar, hosted by YourBot and covered by a subscription. The ten built-in plugins also run on the shared bot.
Is YourBot free to try?
Yes. YourBot is free during its open beta, and all ten built-in plugins are included with every server. After beta a subscription covers the bot and the built-in plugins, and paid marketplace plugins stay optional.
